It'd be a mighty strange coincidence if two perfect games were released on the same day no? Once one perfect game was released how could you make another if the first one was already perfect? It's a thing of legend I tells ya. Like that swordy-stone thing or getting a Big Mac that actually looks like it does in teh picture.
      Kept you waiting, huh?

I think on that scale, where the perfect game induces a state of perpetual orgasmic bliss, all games which have ever been made so far can only hope to rank a 0.

Personally I can't think of a single game that I'd give 10/10 too.

To me, a 10/10 game should remain timeless and be excellent without relying on rose-tinted specs. Games like Goldeneye (which I actually played years after it came out) seem horribly crippled nowadays, while others like Half-Life remain as amazing today as they did when they first came out. Forget nostalgia, forget pre-conceptions, forget reputation, if you sit down to play a game and you can't tear yourself away because you're utterly absorbed, that's a candidate for 10/10.

Actually, the only game I would award 10/10 would be the Baldur's Gate series (I consider it a single product), everything about it works, and visually the 2D graphics in my eyes are a match to anything out today (even Oblivion).

Same here, no game is a 10/10. If a game was 10 material, it would have to be like the Led Zeppelin 1 album i.e. you could play it 30 years from now start to finish because it still rocks.

In other words the game has to be perfect...no flaws.

                  MGS3: Subsistence.
I can't believe its been 10 pages and no one mentioned that.

                  FOR SHAME PEOPLE, FOR SHAME!

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition and Resident Evil 4 come pretty damn close... not exactly sure if I'd consider them 10's, will have to decide once I play them again in a couple weeks.

Is Shenmue the only game where all of the in-game characters were totally unique? Actually am I right in that at all - there were no generic background people, right?

Well there were hundreds of people living a life that has no connection between Ryo's at all. So I guess there were some generic people yes.

To answer some of the peole who cite as 10 as perfection, that does not men flawless in my eyes. To date there has not been a flawless peice of media such as music, film, book or games. No peice of media is flawless but sometimes that scratch on the fretboard, the out of place conversation, the small but unesscary vivid description and that extra peice of scenery can make the track, scene, chapter or level.

A game does not have to be flawless to be perfect, if you catch what I'm saying.
