US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

Yeah, that's the thing, it's a ****ty business practice but if they thought they could get some Wii preorders in and make some money before knowing for sure that they were getting consoles, I'd only be a little annoyed. But telling us outright lies is just pathetic. They deserve to go out of business, and I don't say that much.

Well, I started sending emails 2 weeks ago and have since sent 5. I've had absolutely no response to my request to cancel and it's still sat on pending! The money came out for it weeks ago!
Edit, I've just checked their site and I've got 3 orders. 1 is Wii + Zelda, 2 is Trauma Center and 3 is just a classic controller.
Why the hell can't they ship orders 2 and 3? They both say ready for dispatch on their site.Last edited by Dazzla; 16-12-2006, 14:07.

Ive just sent them yet another cancellation email, this time informing them that Ill be reporting them to my card company for fraud if they fail to respond within 24hours. Which I will. But its a pain in the arse I dont need and frankly they should just ****ing sort it out. Bunch of useless bastards, I am still gobsmacked at what a **** bunch of bastards they are

Hi guys,
I've been away for a few weeks, and it's nice to see that nothings changed: IM still being the fantastic company they are.
My hunt for a Wii is still on. I've been to LA this week with work, and even standing on US soil, walking into US shops, got me no closer to purchasing a unit or accessories. 12,000 miles travel and still nothing to show
As for IM, well, I've just sent them a cancellation order; whether they listen to it or not is another matter, but I figure that I might just call my CC company and let them know that the last contact I had with the company was with them telling me the units were in the country and getting ready to ship. Which was over three weeks ago now.
I'm putting all my eggs in the VGP basket now. I've given up hope of having one for xmas. In-fact, I've kinda lost all excitement about it now (even though I've still not had chance to play on one). I've got plenty of other things to keep me happy. FFIII on the DS and WOW on the PC.

The fact VG+ got screwed with supply just adds to my frustration. I go back to uni early January and cant take my Wii with me as I dont have a tv. This leaves me with a very limited chance to use my Wii if things continue like this. I think I might write a very strong letter to Nintendo of America and Europe just outlining my points. Dont expect a heartfelt reply but at least ill get to release some steam.

I ordered mine on the 29th Sept. Just spoke to Chris on the online chat who thinks they should receive them every week till Xmas, then a large shipment in 1st week of Jan. How true this is, I dunno.
Actual transcript from 21st November:
Chris: Welcome to our live chat service.
Chris: How may I assist you today?
GB: Hi Chris
GB: I was just wondering if you had any update on expected shipping dates for the Nintendo Wii for people who put in early pre-orders?
Chris: we are getting a second shipment early next week
GB: Ah, fantastic! Is there any way you could confirm if my order would be one that would be shipped?
GB: If it helps, my order number is 1693224 and I ordered on 21st of September
Chris: That i cant do because i dont know where people are in the que
GB: Ah, OK. Is there any way I can find out where I am in the queue?
Chris: I cant were any body is on the que, It is a system generated thing
GB: Ah, I see. But it definitely works on a first-come-first-served basis? So as I ordered on the first day I should be fairly confident that mine'll be shipped before recent orders?
Chris: I dont know how the system works
Chris: I just know i cant figure out where anybody is in the que
Chris: sorry
GB: OK, that's fine. Thanks for your help anyway.
....
That last thanks from me was obviously sarcasm.
Strangely though, my Wii was actually sent on the 27th of November and I received it two days later! The shipping turnaround was great from DVDBO, but as usual the communication was terrible. Still, even with the postage included (after converting to US dollars) I paid ?141 for my Wii and shipping - nice!Much better than my experience of pre-ordering a DS from them a year before it was released, but that's another saga...
