Why couldn't Nintendo just use the same old cable they had with the Gamecube and just have two phono outs for the audio on the console? They've shot themselves in the foot worldwide with this shortage.

As Lyris said, the Component support on the GC was very much 'bolted on'.
In the long run, the new way is more efficient.

Yep i got one of those too, from good'o Liksang back in the days - works a treat, no probs wotsoever!
Originally posted by SelixYeah it is good from a distance. But knowing that you've spent all that dosh on Consoles, HDTVs and cables and then to run it through a cheap plastic switch box is a bit off putting.
Then again if it works fine for you Yoshi then why not use it?

Originally posted by BlairAlthough I agree with you I don't understand why you say they have shot themselves in the foot, as far as I know it hasn't stopped anyone buying a Wii and we'll all buy the cables as soon as we can. Its just a higher level of demand than they probably expected.
That's what I mean. Just a stupid oversight.

Originally posted by AngeloI got my cable today - a lot of differance, can actually see all the textures clearily. When you look at Zelda - it does make a differance, however its not as profound as I had hoped. At the very least, any future games for the wii are going to look great.
The difference isn't as huge as I'd expected, but it does look clearly better plus GameCube games come up a treat. Really pleased with this for a third party cable.
