I got my official Japanese component cables today, they were sent on the 16th, so it was all very quick. I'm using them on my Samsung 32" LCD HDTV and the improvements are vast. Much more than I had hoped for. I've been putting off playing Zelda since launch day, so I am glad I can go back to it now!

As for the other person with a Sammy, I have no idea why you are having problems, maybe its your TV, because mine is great with component.

Got mine today from Game. ?19.99 for Game branded cables. I havn't noticed much difference in quality playing Zelda on my 32" sony bravia. Maybe when I play around with the settings a little I'll get some improvement.

I can see obvious horizontal lines on my sammy 26" LCD (the one everyone brought for the 360 last year:P) where I presume the TV is upscaling the 480p lines into 768 (or however many, I forget now) lines that the TV has.

Id be interested to see if anyone else is having this problem with Samsung Panels.
I have those lines on my sony bravia KDL 32S2030
I blame the Game componant cables....

I thought GAME branded ones were ?14.99?
GAME had neither the official ones or their own brand ones in stock today. Plus they had no Shenmue 2 which was the reason I was there.

Would it be safe for my friend to get the official cable, or are the GAME branded ones decent? I am not really bothered but it would benefit my friend

I tried the Game branded component cable with my Wii yesterday and it looked pretty good. I tried 576i first and it was a lot clearer than composite if still a bit soft around the edges. Colour was still a bit washed out though.

Running at 480p is great. Sharp and clear picture wth far better colour than before.

Time to get Zelda out I think...

They are online (and likely in shop at normal times) but Game are extremely dodgy when it comes to bumping up prices above RRP when it suits demand.

                £17.99 for a nunchuck FFS.

Could some of you folk do a little test between 567i and 480p and let me know which looks better on your telly?

It's just out of interest more than anything as 576i is slightly better on mine, but I was expecting it to be the other way around.

480p is definately better on mine - sharper with better colours.

Finally got a set of Blaze cables.

480p looks better than 576i on mine, though it wasn?t quite the leap I thought it was going to be - I?ve been spoilt by Dreamcast vga I think.

The difference between 480i, 480p and 576i is really going to be incremental.
The reason 480p is seen as the next messiah or something is because a lot of LCD's just don't handle 480i very well. But with any decent screen, the difference will be there, but not something to go nuts over, as people have found.

More important is simply using Component over Composite.

how do you choose the different resolutions using the component cable?

Edit: Im using a US Wii, could that have something to do with it?

It should be in the screen settings I think

Mine turned up yesterday. Only 7 days from HK! Anyway although great on being able to see the details on Wii games, see Mario 64 in proper colour...it was the difference in Bonks Adventure in 480p that Shocked me the most. Wow.
