Latest PS3 Firmware Updates

I'm not sure if they ever publicised it or not but I found them by accident. After playing the game I had a folder with about 10 screenshots.

I worked out that they are taken when you eat a certain type of organism, they don't seem to have them in each area but they're easy enough to spot as there will only one there. You eat them and a yellow pulse will travel along your body and when it gets to the very end a screenshot will be taken. It sounds awkward but it really fits in with the feel of the game.

You need to have the expansion pack to be able to take them though.

I've just sent you a few screens from Resistance & fl0w so check your PSN message box. They're just JPGs so it's easy enough to get shots from your PS3 to PC if you needed to.

I've not transferred them to my PC but they look fine on the TV.

Can't wait for the update if it adds in game XMB and Trophies. Are those confirmed? I'd love an achievements system on the ps3.

MGS4 with achievements would be fantastic. If the update contains in game XMB, colour me excited. Its one of the annoyances i have with the current setup, not being able to access or download while play.

Hey I thought trophy like achievements were in the PS3 already from the start? Is that not the case?

Oh and XMB in-game? Sort of like an OS running in the background you can always go back to and fiddle around while playing. Unlike going straight back to the dashboard in the 360 and turning off the game?

Hasn't Kojima mention trophies already? Would seem the perfect time to update the firmware I suppose due to MGS being released this week.

Trophies & ingame XMB are already in some games but it's been up to the devs so far just like custom soundtracks have.

Yeah but i thought it might be adding a unified trophy feature, like how the 360 has it's "achievements" and you can see them all from your tag/the dash.

This video shows that and Sony have suggested but not confirmed it will happen.

I'm guessing that it'll need to be added to older games individually for it to work with them though? Perhaps through a patch or maybe they'll just forget about the older games now.
