Latest PS3 Firmware Updates

Does it need to be Japanese, I thought it was the same for each region? I've always downloaded using the PS3 but DAX always hosts the PS3 firmware. No idea if it's any quicker though.

Ta, downloaded within 5 minutes, rather than the hours it would have taken from the PS Network, didn't know all the firmwares were the same... !

All PS3 firmware is identical, doesn't matter what region you get it from.

Unless you do it via the PS3 itself it is different. JPN firmware has extra stuff. US is exactly the same as PAL mind

I think (I might be wrong) that each of the firmwares themselves are identical, but different things are unlocked based on the region of the console.

Just updated the PSP to 5.00 through the network update option, all fine.

If the Japanese firmware is different, why did the 2.43 update (which was for all consoles) only add an update to the Japanese store?

Trying to update my son's PAL PS3 to 2.52, but when doing an online update it gives an error about not being able to connect to the server, and when trying to do it via a USB stick it gets to 67% and says the data is corrupt.

Any suggestions?

I'd try and consult Sony about it, I am not aware of any games that have the firmware on a Blu Ray Game in order to play it.

Thats a tricky one, try downloading the firmware (PAL) from different sources or try restoring factory settings

I have twice already. This is from playstation.com too.

I think I may just get a 25m RJ45 cable and run it downstairs to the router and use a wired connection to update then switch back to wireless. That ought to work I reckon.

Cannae think of nowt else myself. PS3 is only 4 weeks old too.
