    what sounds more viable

1/ when you buy something you get a manufacturers guarantee for 12 months and they will do mostly anything to make sure the product is fine for 12 months

    or

2/ every 11 months just break the machine so you can get a new one with a new warranty, just means that you have a lifetime guarantee and you never need to buy that item ever again as it will always be replaced for free

doesnt quite work that way - but i know what you are saying

I've experienced three crashes over the last week.

Two on Double Agent and as of today one on the Rainbox Six: Vegas demo. I'm not impressed.

Mine has just died this morning, until then I'd had no problems apart from the occasional crash which was usually related to Live in some way.

I just hope I don't get shafted by MS and receive some skanky refurbed unit.

I had two on Double Agent within half an hour of using my new 360 for the first time. I think im just going to have to put up with it for now so i can play GoW and so on.

My machine is playing funny buggers with import tuner challenge. Chromehounds works fine, loads straight away, but it just doesn't read the ITC disc at all. ITC works fine on Vanpeebles' machine, however. The laser has been making weird noises for weeks now, it seems odd that it works with some games but not others.

Five crashes now in the space of a week. I guess my 360 is on its way out.

I'm not spending ?300 odd on another this year if it dies on me.

              Great timing. Meh.

Having recently exchanged my launch-day 360 for a new one (keeping the original HDD) I have discovered that I can only access full versions of arcade games and Chapter 2 of GRAW when connected to Live, and then only when using the profile I used to download them.

Microsoft support have advised me that I need to fax them my original serial number, new serial number and confirmation of the exchange (from the shop where purchased) before they can begin looking into rectifying this for me.

Wish I'd known that before taking my 360 back without noting the serial number!

Only had mine three days. LEss than six hours playtime, and it's frozen on me twice, once in the dashboard and just now playing GRAW. Ho hum.

                    AAAAAARRRRGGH!

My beautiful, fully working, ZERO issues launch day 360 was stolen from me. Some of you prob know this already from the thread in Off topic.

I knew i was gonna get other one from my insurance. The thing i was fearing most was going through the hell of faulty 360s.

So i got my new one, plugged it all in and straight away got the ****ing one red light no boot E67 error message (which is an HDD error) ****!!!

disconnected everything and then reconnected it all and I still get the message then after about 5 boots it just worked!

Now i get a mixture of E67 errors and proper boots. the thing takes about 3 time the length to boot up than my old one did.

When it works it works fine, better than most 360s i've seen

I could send it back but Gears is away to come out. Don't know if i should wait till after i've finished the sp or not. ****ING MICROSOFT. Amazing console, just built like a Piece of ****!

I'll have to start Dead Rising from SCRATCH for the 4th time! (once on my old 360, once on my flatmates 360 and once on my busted 360)

The warrenty covers you from date of purchase of a item not the specific unit, so you get twelve months regardless of how many times you've had it replaced etc. Replacing a faulty product comes under the terms of the warranty in the first instance. AFAIK.

Always felt smug about not having to post in this thread, but now mine is ****ed. Three red lights, not playing anymore. Microsoft say it'll take 10 working days but it that it'll take 1-2 days for the bloody email to get to me telling me what to do!! Ridiculous.

Very annoyed this has come so close to emergence day, looks like I'll be late to another ****ing party.

EDIT: For **** sake, having gone through all that, I've just turned the 360 on for one last try and it's working.

Jesus christ...well I may as well send it off anyway.

ok UPS are collecting my 360 today so need some advice, do i just send the console or do i include the HDD?
it was killed by the update(was a brand new prem one)

shall i put it in its box inside another box or just put the console(+HDD?) in a box with some paper to protect it(thats all i have) can't get anything better as they are picking it up between now and 5.

                            thanks

mt50 they told me JUST the console, nothing else, not even any wires. He said just put it in a box...

Since you are a few steps ahead of me, a question, I had this email just now :

                              "English
Thank you for contacting Xbox Customer Care. We have received your request for service. Please prepare your console and follow the instructions provided by our customer service department. You will receive an e-mail as soon as the next step in the process has begun.

Note: This is not a monitored e-mail address."

Do I ring UPS or are microsoft going to mail me again with details of what to do? I've been given an address and reference over the phone but I'm sure he said I'd get an email telling me what to do, then I ring UPS...

                              HELP!!
