    Hi

Can I use UK points cards on the HK store or my normal credit card, I want to get some of the games from there?

More to the point....Is this worth a pre-order or is there a very high chance the price will be cut just like it has been done in Japan?

I really thought Vita was going to sell by the bucketload, even with a steep RRP. I reckon it will do very well, but the market in JPN is cleary showing that they are not prepared to pay the asking price, and expect a 3DS price drop.

It will be extremly interesting to see if the US/EUR launch bucks the trend, or if the same happens. Whilst it seems almost certain that there will be price drop in Japan shortly, that doesn't need to be replicated in other regions if the sales are strong.

Again it seems early adopters will get the short end of the stick. I must admit I am part of the problem, waiting until I could get a 3DS with Mario for ?150. I just don't see the market for a mobile games console that costs over ?300 once you have a proprierty memory card, case and spare charger.

I wouldnt hold your breath for a price cut anytime soon.

It's not an official price cut. Just retailers getting scared.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

I meant from Sony, especially in the UK.

Short term some retailers already have cut prices. But I agree, long term it won't happen for a couple more months. My guess would be a large slash in price around Easter. Something like ?70 off.

There wont be a price cut. They'll just introduce value packs for the same price as the stand-alone launch units.

Like retailers here with the 3DS. Although the RRP was ?229 it pretty much retailed at ?200 on day one in many places & within a couple of weeks after that, it was common to find it on the high st at ?180. I've been really surprised that with less than 7 weeks to go, we haven't seen the same flurry of deals & pre-order incentives here. I guess this time around retailers will prefer to sell less but at a much greater margin rate.

Personally I don't think it's over priced for what it is, (the premium on the 3G model is a bit much) but I think the wifi model is fair. you cant expect modern handhelds to be the same price as a gameboy.

I agree I don't think it's overpriced it has the same tech in it as an ipad2 with a better albeit smaller screen if you can do half what you can on an iPad if joe public see it doing it it will sell by the truckload at ?229 as its cheaper than 90% of tablets out there

                          Patcher would agree with you:

Pachter echoed those concerns over the Vita's ?229 price tag."Sony is probably learning the hard way that pricing handhelds at the same level as the company's core console makes it hard to gain traction," he said.
"The 3DS tried and failed, and PS Vita is trying the same thing. We'll see if it works this time.
"My bet is that Sony will NOT lower the price right away - as Nintendo did - mostly because the 3DS had a pretty healthy profit margin at $249, and I think that the Vita is selling for only slightly above its cost to manufacture at that price.
"I don't see Sony taking losses to drive market share, so I don't expect them to cut price in 2012."

For me personally I think the unit is a great price, and I'd have dropped even more money for a better GPU, but the problem is that the casual gamers drive sales, and they will struggle to see that the PS3 is the same value as a PSVita.

I also think it's a telling sign that the 3DS was sold with a large profit on release, but the Vita is only just over cost price.... This is music to a hardcore gamers ears, as that means you are getting the best components and that Sony is betting on cheaper production down the road, just like PS3.

I fell the PSVita was made for people just like us on these boards, so I do hope it is a success.

^^^ this. It's great value for money considering the tech in there. Sony's struggle is that it's a game console. No one's going to buy this instead of an android tablet for example whereas the opposite could happen. I can play tiny tower on a machine that costs less and has a bigger screen, and watch videos and have iPlayer and use normal memory cards? Ok, I'll have one of those then!

If I had an hour commute on public transport I'd have imported one by now for sure.

?229 is a fair price for such an advanced piece of kit - especially with that lovely OLED screen.

I'm sure there will be plently of bundle offers for the UK launch - i just want to see more software for it. After my immense dislike of ps3 UC3, i havent any desire to play vita uncharted, have played hotshots golf to death - on the psp and ps3 and i'm not sure i can be bothered with ridge racer after the DLC debacle. Nothing really else interests me - perhaps wipeout?

Think i'm getting old and jaded with these rehashes, but i know all console/handhend launches milk old franchises.

Unit 13 is where it's at IMO. 100% of the other games can GTF.
