maybe Robert Green does all the mo-cap and is a goalie consultant on both series ?

Or maybe parrying is becoming increasingly commonplace in goalkeeping?

not shots that roll at 5mph(happens in Fifa miles too much).

I'm amazed goalies can catch anything in those oven/gardening glove gauntlets they wear nowadays.

I am aware this makes me sound old but in my day Pat Jennings used to catch crosses one handed with no gloves on at all.

I know what you mean Merf, the balls etc used makes it rather difficult to catch nowadays but that still doesn't excuse the poor programming on Fifa and PES of the inept keepers. Didn't have that on PES PS2.

Pat Jennings, best long shot in the game iirc, even if he only did it once!

I must say, after some time on this... I'm loving it. Good to be playing a PES game again. It's just more theatrical with the "oohs" and "aaaahs" moments!

No it's doesn't look perfect. The animation is as you can see, still not as fluid as FIFA. However, it feels really satisfying to play.

I must admit that it does take a while for it to click though. So different in the pass and defending department. At first they felt a bit broken, but after reading up and practicing more, it started to click and I appreciate it a lot. The passing especially.

So yeah, if you're measuring this to FIFA in the fluid animation department or just in anyway, then you will be disappointed, as it isn't that game, funny enough.

I'm just concerned that even the pro-PES crowd (who are mostly the only ones who have played it so far) still keep saying things like 'I've played 5 matches and in that time the keepers have only made about 2 errors' - this seems too many to me. Even the very few vids that have surfaced show some absolutely comical goalkeeping. Plus every player seems to be able to rocket the ball on target from 30 yards out.
The videos also look pretty disjointed as people playing it still seem to be getting used to the new passing so maybe that is making the game look slightly worse than it is. The AI doesnt look too hot though...

I've played this quite a bit (maybe a bit more than others ) and I can only remember one blunder so far.

Where's Ezee? He went from hating PES to loving FIFA and now after playing a lot of PES2011, he's backing the game over FIFA. That's a good idea of how PES is doing at the moment. Ezee knows his footy game ****.

It really isnt. Those moments are created by the user and not the game.

Very true. And usually when you play in a group (in the same room rather than online). I have had many moments on fifa where I have been in awe of the goal i scored/nearly scored.
And i still have a save file full of pes 5 highlights on my original xbox.

You sure? Animations are scripted in a sense and when the game allows you to attack a low-ish ball, too far away to kick being zipped across the 6-yard box with a theatrical flying header, you go "oooooh". PES has always allowed this. FIFA seems a bit more strict or doesn't let you try to attack such a ball even when it is too far out of the player's reach.

The game does have rules in place. Both in different ways. The amount of missed flying headers in PES is astronomical. All of them bring a smile to all faces everywhere.
