How do the penalties work? Is it entirely random?? I have either scored or ballooned it over doing the exact same controller commands. I have now scored a free kick though, shame the keeper could've easily saved it. Hmm.Comment

Yeah it's random!
They're the same as 2010's horrific pen system. It's actually not that bad the more practice, knowing how they work, but the learning curve is horrendous.

I'm absolutely loving this so far, feels so much more fluent and free-flowing compared to previous versions, completely fell in love with it on first play.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips for how to feint? I saw that in the vid after the demo, but not sure how to bust it out...Comment

Yeah I hear the same, give it five hours and you`ll be more used to it. It does feels quite different from the other versions which is good. It`s much more dynamic. Not likin the skills on the analogue stick is my only gripe really. The advantage thing is a strange one I`m never sure why they took it out either. Maybe they thought too many fouls were happening.Comment

The only reason I'm asking is because in the video after the match, it shows some quite frankly mental skills, specifically linkable feints/shimmys. Maybe this hasnt made it into the demo...although you'd think Messi could bang out some skills.Comment

Certain marquee players can pull off the tougher tricks. It was the case in PES 2010, I presume it's the same again this year.
For the link feints, you've got to see what the presets are.
You can of course edit them and fill all 4 slots with certain skills/ feints as well as which direction (side) you want the skill to transition to.
One problem I've had though is that I can't seem to find a button to cancel out of a link feint. Say for example you fill up all 4 slots with extravagant moves, there seems to be no super cancel that I've found.Comment

I can't stand the link feints at the moment (need more time to work out best combination I suppose). I'm happy that all the tricks/feints can be done manually using a combination of L2. However, step-overs and Mathews feint can be done with right stick alone.
My favourite trick is the ball lift (Left stick any direction, L2 and R3). Cut inside someone with that and maybe set yourself up for a half volley.Comment

Oh dear, Konami. You seemed to have brought PES back. I can't stop playing the demo. Yet you miss out little, but actually big things like lack of advantage rule and where is my animation for fake shot? The mechanic is there, but the animation is missing.
And now... the PES Nightmare.
Great vid by this guy, but sadly more poo news for us PES fans. May ruin single player if it's still in final version. Don't hold you breath there though...
