Will there be avatar clothing on 360 game discs in the future? For example a Left 4 Dead outfit etc on the Left 4 Dead disc. Or will avatar stuff just be sold seperately on Live?

So, if the machine defaults to the spotlight channel on boot and there is now advertising all over the place can we expect a reduction in the price of a Live subscription?

I thought we paid almost ?40 a year to keep the servers running ad free.

Really liking the new deign, if not for anything but the speed of the new guide. Also like the fact you can turn off auto start when you insert a disk, that always bugged me. Installed a few games and I can defo see a difference. Far Cry 2 sees some noticable improvements, but then even though GoW2 loads quicker you still get textures loading in!

I like the new front end and maybe it was just busy online last night with the NXE going live but the Marketplace was loading a lot slower for me once I'd upgraded from the old blades menu

They mentioned about an Avatar store coming next year so they'll doubtless be charging for stuff.

As yet no dev has jumped on the avatar goodie bandwagon but I don't see why they can't / shouldn't. The only thing which might limit some content is Avatars can only be used on games that are rated `E` so don't expect a full on zombie outfit with blood and gore.

I thought we were going to be able to use gamerpictures as t-shirts, too. Maybe I made that up, seemed like a good idea though.

In the scheme of things and considering the scale of the update I don't think the rollout went to badly. A few hitches with the marketplace was all I noticed.

Do we pay ?40 for an ad free service?
Generally thought there has been a lot of promo/ad stuff over 3 years, from movies and music bands/record labels.
The movie stuff has always been there, you will find all the movie promo stuff always has a free theme and gamerpictures alongside it.
Would be nice to have some of the gamerpic unlocks replaced with avatar t-shirts i.e the seriously Gears gamerpic, they could now have these unlocks as Avatar costumes in new games.
Know of a few games that had a gamerpic unlocks when you got certain achievements.
I won't personally pay one penny to kit out my avatar in new stuff.

I don't like this, its ugly, over designed and messy and exactly the sort of thing I switch off whenever given a classic option to revert to.

only thing that I like is the install option.

don't see what all the hooplah is about, hurray, they've made my console harder to navigate round, good work MS.

Gave Scene It BOS a whirl last night, with my avatar... Boy do they sit incredibly camply on the sofa!!!! They integrate well, but jeeez. I certainly do not sit on the sofa with my legs tucked underneath me!!!!

I do think some of it is over the top, but I certainly don't think overall its more complicated to navigate than the old dash. I couldn't find anything in that, and it was so slow to load if you had more than 4 things in a list.

Switch the horizontal axis for the vertical axis and the menu's are pretty close to being the same abr the new aesthetic style. As far as the pricing, can't see MS reducing it in regards to advertising, its easy money. Though by now there's no justification for charging at all. As improvements are made to PSN in the future its likely the subscription model will be what eventually loses Live its crown.

To everyone who doesn't like the new dash, surely the new guide is the classic view you are after, except that now it works much faster and has no advertising at all .

Whether you use the new dash or stick to the guide, I can't see how anyone could be disappointed in this.

It's ok... It seemed easier than the last one, for me anyway, guess that's down to the type of movies I watch. Seem to spend more time playing the game than watching cut scenes, which I really hated on the first one, so that's an improvement. Some of the games don't really work single player though as they end up showing you the answer, and in multiplayer it'd be fastest wins, where as obviously you have all the time in the world on your own. If you liked the first then you'll like this though.
