2 freezes for me Im afraid. Im hoping it doesnt brick my console.

Love it. I was generally impressed with the whole thing to start with. But when I went to the Inside Xbox channel and watched the trailer for "The Day The Earth Stood Still" stream pretty much instantly I realised what a slick update they'd made.

That said, I'm getting a few "Can't retrieve information from Xbox LIVE" errors at moment, but I guess a few hiccups here and ther for the first few days are inevitable.

I quite like the new dashboard though I'm not so keen on the avatars. Any way to turn them off ?

It's just been said that they will be adding new clothes for the Avatars every 2 weeks for 6 months.
It hasn't been said if you will have to pay for these or not (I'm guessing not, because everyone will have to have them on their machine for it to work)

Yes but they could easily have them download automatically to all consoles but they may decide to charge points in order to unlock them for use on your own avatar (otherwise you will just be able to see them on other peoples avatars who have paid for them).

I don't think you can turn the avatars off.

Just done my update & created my Mii...sorry Avatar.

I did enjoy it though loads of options & much much better/fun than Nintendo's versions.

I have encountered a problem though...everytime I go to view friends then exit it freezes my console & I have to reboot.
Hopefully it's a teething problem & will sort itself out in a day or so.

Anyway the new look is great & I'm really pleased with the update so far.

I don't think its available anymore, if you already have it you can still play it (single player at least anyway) but you can't download it anymore.

I have encountered a problem though...everytime I go to view friends then exit it freezes my console & I have to reboot.

This happens to me as well, but if I press the guide button when it's frozen it makes the guide button noise and after a couple of seconds it unfreezes and is back to normal.

Poop one of my mates was listed as playing it about 10 minutes ago so thought it was a live download now...he didnt tell me he had a code for the flaming early download...swine lol

Havent looked to be honest as the Mrs has stolen the controller now to create her Avatar (Upto 8 outfits already ) so expect to have lost any use of the 360 for the rest of the evening to be honest lol

EDIT - Blade, I tried that & it didnt do anything only thing that did work was a total reboot...hopefully if it does it again it may well free it up.

Ah ok than, thats much better. Still not sold though. It just seems funny. I mean the layout, it looks awesome but for me in terms of functionality its not doing it for me. Too confusing. I will soldier on though, i mean im really digging those avatars.

Likewise. I'm assuming it's something to do with XBox Live responding slowly as the machine calls for people's avatars. The marketplace seemed broken too but I would put that down to them perhaps turning it off for the day to allow the updates to go on smoothly.
