Its a new console, the Wii doesnt have the capability/power to stream video to a controller like that.

If it can run the current 360/PS3 games with a better frame rate and 1080p, ill have one

We don't know if it's powerful enough to do that. I have my doubts.

That's the first time in my 26 years, that I've seen a hardware announcment with no new hardware.

I did see a white box to the right of the TV, but you can see how much Nintendo want you to focus on the controller.

Looks good, and a very intresting idea.

Nintendo steals the show with cryptic console(?) announcement.

Them not even acknowledging the main console... That has me incredibly worried.

Its a new console but they kept banging on about the controller because thats the big new inovation.

They've made an utter ****ing hash of explaining this.

After years of really well designed and comfortable controllers that sure looks like it's gonna give me hand ache.

                      Super weird

Going off the footage shown they'll have focused on showing the controller instead of the system because they know the controller is the key selling point. The system is blatantly knocking around PS3 level visual fidelity which isn't going to be enough to rock core gamers worlds so they've wisely focused on trying to catch a middle ground.

The system didn't knock me for six and I can't see the controller being comfortable for use enough for extended core games but it's enough and I can see how marketed right it could be successful. The 3rd party support is nice but most of those games are likely to hit after the PS3 and 360 releases so they need a decent game plan for them

Unless TGS holds surprises it looks like WiiU will be out Xmas 2012 and that Nintendo are axing the NDS and Wii this year

how do we get a picture to a standard, none-network and WiFi-enabled TV?

You missed out, That's it's also able to play those horrible evil shiny PS3 and 360 HD games , with a controller with just as many buttons ?. In the end the Wii U is what the Wii should have been 6 years ago .

The picture is sent from the Controller to the Wii U system hardware which then displays the image through the TV like any console does

So the little mini Wii box that actually takes the discs and streams stuff to the controller is nice and powerful. Yes? But it's also backwards compatible with the Wii and the Wiimotes/Nunchucks/Balance Board etc.

                                Yes?
