I know, it's awesome. Now we just need more than one games developer to support the function :/

There's apparently a bit more info about the bird tech demo floating around.

It's supposed to be based off of an old build of the Wii U so it's capable of more than that, the demo also continues past the E3 showing and has a bit where it zooms in on the bird and you see each feather is fully modelled (suggests HW Tesselation which again suggests 5xxx+ graphics chip)

Hmm... so it's old and we shouldn't take what they showed as an indicator of what it can do because it's actually more powerful and they chose not to show the bits that showed the power, which is now more powerful? I'm not sure I'm buying that.

I wonder if the Wii U has two graphics chips in it? If Wii games cannot be upscaled then maybe it has the GC / Wii hardware inside to draw graphics for the remote screen while the newer AMD part handles the output to the TV? Doesn't sound very cost effective though.

It's about as believable as unveiling a new console, only not to mention it once.

Rest of the demo. Still really hard to know what to make of it (Nintendo need to release a proper HD video of it) .

I do like the idea of controllers having their own LCD's and being touch screen (should be great for RPG's menu's ect) , but its seems to offer nothing more than what will be possible with the Vita and PS3 or to a point PSP and PS3 .

As has been said a dozed times now: not every PS3 with come with Vita, every Wii-U will come with the controller in question. Hence the developers can invent functions knowing that every Wii-U owner will be able to use it, and therefore make it worthwhile investing in. Furthermore, there are nuances of difference; the Wii-U controller is simply receiving video from the console, where the PSV is a completely separate gaming device.

And will be able to do the almost the exact same thing if you already have a PS3 then all you need to do is buy a Vita and have the same experience for much the same price, the exact same games (3rd party wise) and also have a High end Hand Held system too. I'm sure most 3rd parties will include the exact same features in their games for the Vita and U (if terms of using the 2nd screen).

Speculation, we don't know what the Wii U can and cannot do.

And you know the price of the Wii U, really how much will it be? I could bet that it won't cost as much as a PS3 and PSVita combined.

Again, speculation. There were 3rd party exclusives for the Wii, there's nothing that says there won't be for the Wii U.

Whilst, as Andromeda says, the tech here appears not much different to Sony's remote play (I've played Disc based PS1 games on my PSP as well as Pixeljunk Eden so the tech definitely works), the difference is that no one has taken advantage of that tech in a PS3/PSP mash up whereas with this it actually worth them doing it.

I still kinda think the whole thing is grasping at straws. What I'd have rather Nintendo'd done is to bring out a new console with enough grunt to do 1080p at 60fps on a regular basis and have Valve integrate Steam. Then it's a simple case of Nintendo just doing what they supposedly do best - make games.

I wonder if, now that Miyamoto is getting on a bit, he's become a bit senile but no one has noticed the transition from genius to senility?

Interestingly, the PS3 and PSV combo could probably do MORE than the Weeoo. As has been mentioned, the WiiU controller is a 'dumb' terminal device with little grunt of it's own.

But noone will, because like you say, there's no point backing a setup that most people won't have.

It's NCL.... it be at least ?199 and it wouldn't put it past them asking that just for the PAD :P. In all seriousness it not come cheap, this is NCL after all

Again, speculation. There were 3rd party exclusives for the Wii
I'm on about the Multi Platform 3rd party games and I bet the Vita and U games will all share the same functions in terms of using the non TV screens

Speculation, we don't know what the Wii U can and cannot do
True, but going by the Vids it appears to be able to play 360 and PS3 3rd party games and I would imagine those 3rd party games will share similar functions on Vita and U . But until both the Vita and U ships none of us will really now

Exactly I was playing RE on remote play on my PSP ages ago , you could even use the PSP as a controller(God knows why) That's on 6 year old tech. Now the Vita itself offers Touch screen , dual sticks and some Top Spec's I would imagine the likes Vita remote play to vastly improve on what the remote play already does .

Having checked out various hands on vids and write ups the consensus seems to be the controller is great to use. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up with a full on fps etc but my concerns have eased. Either way it's very much a Wii 2 so anyone who chose yes in the Do You Want the Next Gen thread might as well jog on, the Wiiu is going to be a nice support system again for the occasional Ninty or surprise title and will likely remain unique. The PS3-PSV function will never happen, it's a long proven poor method that people won't use. As yet there's nothing to rave about with Wiiu but equally nothing to berate.
