I think you have to look at this objectively and ask yourself if you were running a business, would you keep it exclusive? On consoles like ps3 & 360 its not so bad, established install base and a mature online selling platform for both means exclusives are more likely to turn a profit, wiiU has what, 3-4 million consoles at the moment? Realistically its not going to even break even on the wiiU.
Unfortunately Ancels games dont sell by the boat load, i wish they did, however its a good thing that Ubisoft still recognize his and his teams talents and keep funding him to even start making games like rayman, theres not many publishers that put up with even one loss leader now days even from talented teams, bizzare creations spring to mind here.

I am sorry but the above does not excuse this. In the end the WiiU has just launched so of course there will be a smaller install base, that's going to be the same for any launch title on any console. It wouldn't have made any difference to Ubisoft if they had released it now as they would still get the sales from the other platforms when they came out + the WiiU sales now.
Terrible way to treat your customers, and a kick in the teeth for any WiiU owner currently.

IIRC Origins tanked despite being on PC, PS3, 360 and some portables. It only shifted a decent amount of copies during sales like those on steam and by retailers, who had to mark it down to free up space.
I really hope this generation and with the rise of DD, developers can self publish and leave the big publishers to do their mediocre tipple AAA endless sequels titles.

The lack of releases even from Nintendo leads me to think that Nintendo released the machine too early just to address their short term business needs. All the 'big' games are now going to come out after the summer, so why buy one now. They (Nintendo) have stated there will be no price cut and I can see why, there is no software, so they might as well maximise their margins whilst they can.
The issue for them will be if PS4 and Xbox 720 have a launch price sub ?300 and a massive launch line up, then the Wii U will be hammered by this. Only time will tell, but right I will not be buying as Wii U as it is an expensive dust collector..

I am sure they will both have games at launch that will attract fans in, but as with the WiiU they are both probably going to struggle in the first year or so. Lets not forget the world is still economically ****ed so peeps are not exactly going out and spending like mad like they used to.
As Cornflakes said the best we can hope for as gamers is we get some Indie upstarts over the next couple of years who can deliver us some fun back to gaming. Hopefully for all of the platforms, which won't the WiiU any harm if it turns out like that.

Rayman dev is pissed:
Update: Ubisoft has corroborated this dev's story: Rayman Legends really is complete on Wii U and is only being held ba…
Rayman Legends is an excellent game and will still be, and the team that's making it doesn't deserve to have your back turned on them just because some men in ties one day took a wrong choice

I'll gladly pick up the 360 version and PS3 version when they're released to negate one boycott. It's looking to be a great game, okay the delay is a poor move on Ubisoft Exec's front but I'm not going to let that stop me from buying and enjoying a well designed and beautiful 2D platformer that's had nothing but love and extensive hard work poured into it.

To be fair I will probably still get the WiiU version on release, but its still a shockingly bad decision one way or the other. That Eurogamer article paints a pretty bleak picture if you want to be in the industry these days.

I mean really we have got to the point of 'Chelsea Manager' mentatility now in the world where a new machine comes out and its not even given a chance to sell before people are writing it off. Its not like Nintendo haven't shifted units, jesus give it a chance ffs ... Just because some suit in an office somewhere thinks the WiiU isn't selling as much as an ipad does on day 1, they go and pull **** like this.
I do wonder whats happening to the world sometimes, yeah ok its only a game, but **** me the world will go down rapdily if these idiots in suits don't get a grip soon.

It's retarded. Just release it it doesn't exactly need the marketing there is toss all coming out so the have a shot at 60%+ off Wii U owners which should still be 1.8M + almost suggests they want to bury Ancell and Rayman to me. It will be lucky to do the same number in September as a multi plat title
