Low sales had little to do with why EA have completely dropped support

I'm thinking about buying a WiiU at some point, and I have a couple of questions (It doesn't really seem worth making a new topic for this).

      1. Is the Gamepad the only controller that the machine comes with? If I want to play regular Wii games, I assume I need to purchase a Wii Remote and nunchuck? Are regular Wii games that used the Classic Controller also compatible with the new WiiU Pro Controller?

It seems like this could become quite expensive if you take into account all the different controllers you'd potentially need in addition to the GamePad (Remote, nunchuck, classic controller, Pro controller etc.).

      2. If I was to purchase the basic 8GB model and an external USB storage, would this be just as capable as the 32GB machine? Chances are I'll go the whole hog and get the 32GB machine, but just curious in case the price difference is significant.

      3. Does it come with a sensor bar out of the box?

I think the 32GB machine comes with the sensor bar, as well as a pro controller.

Apart from that I may get just the 8GB machine myself and pick up another 1TB drive.

That's going to depend on how much you still play Wii games I guess. Other than NintendoLand there isn't really anything else that uses the Wii Remote to the point where you would need one. Other games support it, but for the most part its not required. If you are just planning on playing WiiU stuff you won't need one for the most part.

Pro Controller will depend on whether you still want to play some games with a classic controller scheme or not. It is better for certain games. Wii games cannot use the new controllers.

I would be using Wii games on the machine to an extent - my Wii is at home in the UK, I was considering getting it shipped over, but won't bother if I buy a WiiU.

It's a shame that Nintendo didn't have the foresight to make the new controllers compatible with old Wii games.

They do but that wouldn't make them extra $

The white one (8gb) is less of a dust magnet if that matters to you. When I had mine the internal was still enough for about 8-10 games but other than the sensor bar and colour they both do the same thing. I had a USB stick in mine for extra storage with no issues at all

The consoles don't come with Pro Controllers unless you get a ZombiU or Monster Hunter set.

And the white Pro Controller is only available in Japan, seemingly.

Actually the US has them too to my knowledge, for some reason it's just in PAL territories they aren't selling the white ones. They pop up on ebay occasionally though, without too much of a wait. I got mine for the same price as you'd get a black one over here

I can get you white ones if you really need me to. CDN$52.49 each plus shipping.

Been looking in to picking one up of late, the White Wii U only has 3gb of space to use for downloaded game/patch/saves though doesn't it, which is shockingly low.

ETC, so the Wii U recognises a USB stick the same as it does an external hard drive? thought this would be the case but wanted a hands-on confirmation, would prefer to use a 32GB stick over an external drive.

Best deal around on a Basic model at the moment I think,

                        Thanks,

Mine did but I don't know if it has had any updates since, or I was lucky etc etc

USB sticks/drives are all recognised, but SD cards can't be used for game storage for the WiiU, just Wii bits.

I've been tempted by that ?190 deal on Shopto. I think for me it depends on what Nintendo announce at E3, a new 3D Super Mario this Christmas could clinch it.

I don't see much difference between the basic and premium packs personally. I feel like I'd have to plug in a USB HDD to either anyway, and I prefer the white since it matches the 4 remotes/nunchuks/classic controller I already own. And it's cheaper.

Interesting we haven't seen any Game & Wario JPN impressions from forumites yet - honestly 16 minigames seems shockingly low for a game that's meant to be composed of 5-second-or-less 'microgames'. I mean that adds up to about a minute and a half of gameplay :|. If it was a really brilliant game it would help to convince me to get a Wii U though.

That series has been on a real downward slide since the first one (never played Twisted though).

The Basic doesn't come with a stand though, and you can't seem to buy them separately.
                                Kept you waiting, huh?
