That last bit was a joke

I've been importing for over 20 years, so I've been there done that in regards to the whole 50Hz/60Hz argument, and why getting a US SNES was like a revelation when I then saw PAL games by comparison. And yet... I'm siding with Pikate. It's four frigging games FFS out of the entire VC library that Nintendo has made available. Sheesh, anyone would think Nintendo had kidnapped your first born or something.

Except that Super Metroid and Zelda are two of the best games on the system. People are right to be irritated.

For me it makes it even more frustrating...my favourite snes game saved for 50hz. Its like i almost started to think, oh we are over this 50hz thing....and then wham have a bit of zelda in 50hz!!!

And this whole "Import if you care that much" is no answer...you shouldn't have to anymore, and certainly not for big franchises like zelda. Also for the record i used to import everything, but in those days we still had a lot of scrubby 50hz titles in our midst, and the HDTV standard wasn't...standard. I also used to play games much more.

From my point of view its an issue i will always stand against especially on a forum like this(i mean come on lol), Its a perfectly valid argument, but some folk seem unable to resist providing a rather sanctimonious commentary.

This debate should really have moved on ages ago.

Can we all agree that its annoying, just more annoying for some it seems...

            Then move on.

Would people buy a Blu Ray with an output of 480p?

ALL OF THIS merely serves to sum up what a mess Nintendo have made of the entire Virtual Console concept.

It could've been something truly special, but instead it smacks of being a hugely wasted opportunity instead.

Four 50Hz games does not smack of a wasted opportunity at all. That's rubbish. How could it have been any different than paying money to download games and then play them? Should you get a free cake too? The exact same model with PS1 games is in place on the PSN. Is that also a wasted opportunity?

It is a wasted opportunity....even forgetting the 50/60hz arguments, the fact they drip feed so many crappy games and leave out classics in a period when they would provide something during a dry spell. I mean Yoshi's island never even came out on the Wii VC, and that is a travesty.

Its backward really, but i guess thats nintendo.

Most of the AAA SNES games should be released in the first year or so imo...with the Wii by the time some of my favourites hit the VC i had well and truly left the console behind.

If the entire range of games were available on the first day, the marketing would be a total nightmare. We already know that Nintendo can barely market their latest and greatest, let alone a bunch of 23 year-old games. The fact that Area 88 will never be available is enough to put me off personally, but you lot are asking for too much.

I'm referring to the entire VC across all Nintendo platforms (Wii, Wii U & 3DS), and yes - it is a wasted opportunity.

Content scarcely released (often months at a time in the Wii's case), the whole 50/60hz bollocks, third-parties all but abandoning it - and that's just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Nintendo's handling and implementation of the VC concept has been shoddy at best and piss-poor at worst.

                        I stand by that.

They'd run the risk of the VC being better than actual Wii U offerings though. That would be suicide. People would be calling it a HD SNES ROMbox or something along those lines.

So it's alright for Nintendo to not really give a feck about the VC by not really being arsed to make any effort to provide regular content of quality for it, but we should give a feck?

                            Really?

Sony don't, and I don't see anybody complaining about that. You do give a ****, which is why you are posting about the subject in hand. Or are you not?

If we look at the currently available SNES VC titles taken from Wikipedia below:

There doesn't really seem like there's that much that you could call bad. At 26 games, it works out to just over two per month. That seems perfectly acceptable to me.
