Tested the ads on my wife.

"Oh that's a great idea! Takes the 3D element away for the kids"
You can turn off the 3D on the normal 3DS.
"Yes but this plays normal DS games too, right?"
    So does the normal 3DS.
"So what's the point of this then?"

To be fair, she would have thought it an awesome idea based on the ads.

Looked at the vid then felt slightly disgusted with myself as theres a part of me that secretly wants one. Seriously what the hell is wrong with me? I already have a regular & LL 3DS. If the battery life was decent though it might tempt me.

Wonder how big it really is, is it using LL or regular sized screens & because it's like a mini tablet form wonder how comfy it will be to hold as well.

Looks like it's mono sound. I bet the battery life will be awesome. I kinda want one, and I don't know why.
        Kept you waiting, huh?

Full specs here J0e; yes mono unless using headphones.

same sized screens as original 3DS and slightly improved battery life.

3.5 hours! That is shocking, I was expecting 8+ hours.

That battery life is barely any different, lol sod that. They have made it easier for me to not choose it. Thanks Nintendo hehe.

I'm out. I only use headphones, but the smaller screens have killed it for me.

Sounds like a parts bin unit to me. They must have an abundance of the smaller panels left over. No word on a JPN unit either. I bet it doesn't get a release.

Yes larger screens and improved battery life were a given I thought especially with that "wedge design".

Aren't I correct in saying that a few early 3DS games required the 3D feature, so saying it works with all game is a lie?

All I can say is monster, monster, what is this horror I see before me????? Clearly this is US design version of the console.

None require the 3D. At least to my knowledge. It doesn't sound like it's scientifically possible anyway.

                          No games require 3d.

Presumably, the removal of 3D isn't going to do much to the price, because all they're going to have done is removed the slider. I'm guessing they have to keep using the 3DS screens in these units in order for the games not to look weird played in 2D (I don't quite know how it works, but something along the lines of each pixel appears twice. Maybe I've heard wrong). If that's true that means they can't make it "budget" enough to warrant purchasing it over the regular 3DS, which seems to be the case from the ?109 price point. Why did they feel the need to mess around with the 3DS anyway? I thought it was hitting its stride... it's the Wii U they should faff around with.

Of course, if it does make a large difference to the cost of making the units, then they're just being greedy as well as weird.

Nintendo sure do love their handhelds!
It is utterly pointless But i would like to see one in the flesh.
Looking back I love my micro but it was pretty pointless at the time too.
