I have a UK club Nintendo account, but a US Wii-U, if I register my MK8 will that give me a download for the UK or US store? It's been ages since I used my Wii-u accounts, so not even sure if this matters?

My understanding is that if it's a US copy of MK8, the code will only work on the Nintendo US website, and registering it there will give you a code for the US eshop. This means the code will work on your console, you will just have to make a US Club Nintendo account to get it.

Once you download it go to the linked club nintendo account and look at the titles you've redeemed and your downloaded game should be there with a link under it telling you to do a survey

You normally get 50 stars for VC titles

Registered mine, got 250 points for windwaker which is a bonus

Is it necessary to play 50cc and 100cc to unlock stuff or can I go head first trying to complete everything 150cc?

Don't think so. You get unlocks for coins. Every 50iirc.

Due to the increasing popularity and high-demand of Mario Kart 8, the courier which teamed with Nintendo UK has failed to deliver the game on launch day, with most delayed deliveries now expected before noon tomorrow.

As a temporary solution Nintendo is sending out downloadable codes to the UK customers affected so they don’t continue to miss out on the racing action.

Here’s the official statement released by Nintendo today:

Dear – -
Thank you for your patience on your Mario Kart 8 order from our Nintendo Online Store.

We are sorry to inform you that your delivery has been delayed, however we have worked very closely with the courier service in order to guarantee delivery to you before 12 noon tomorrow. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and as a gesture of goodwill to our customers, we would like to offer you a download code for the full game, so that you can be throwing shells and banana skins in no time! You will still be receiving a physical copy of the game to also enjoy after launch day.

We value the importance of being able to enjoy our products on launch day and will be liaising closely with our courier service to avoid any future delays.

Courier in question is Yodel. Pre-orders won't be delivered until tomorrow (Monday).

Use the code and sell the physical copy and be quids in! Good on Nintendo though.

Not a good move imo. Depending on the amount of course. Should have just credited them with a free fiver or code for other game. As cross as people would be, come Monday it would be all forgotten.

They should have just give out trial codes or something along those lines that only allow you to play for a few days.

Plus if getting it on actual launch day is really that important, then just go pick it up from a shop.

Seem's abit daft to give you a game that your going to be receiving anyway. Don't get me wrong its great nintendo are doing something about it but how may people will just return it for cash back? I'd be selling the code and waiting a couple of days.

I'm surprised Nintendo are being faulted by people for giving the game free to those who didn't receive it on launch day (bearing in mind you can sell your digital or physical copy and recoup almost all the money). Seems pretty good to me.

For the first time ever, every star you receive on 150cc will also appear on 50 and 100. So if you fully 3 star 150cc, you've 3 starred all 3 speed classes. So no, you don't need to do 50 and 100, you can jump straight into 150. You will still need to do Mirror separately though.

You do need to earn coins to unlock stuff but you can do this with repeat play. The best way is by playing cups in local multiplayer. I accrued at least 4000 coins over the weekend this way.
