Are there PSPGo figures? I'd be very curious. Likely sold around 7 of them in the UK.

Its like trying to run 4k on a pc gpu with only 1gb video ram...

The PSP just seemed to fall flat towards the end of its run, and I think that can clearly be reflected from both POVs.
Impressive hardware that felt underwhelming and felt like it should've delivered more - precisely the same
scenario being played out with Vita. And I can't imagine that Vita profit margins are very high for Sony either.
Also, the Vita is actually doing very well attach rate wise, the people who buy one tend to spend well on it and the developers who are making are doing well out of it.
Sometimes in business nu-eclipse things can seem small and pointless but actually be quite profitable.
Games wise you only have to look at Killzone mercs as what the console is capable of graphically. Tareaway is worth the price of the console alone too, my favourite game of the last decade.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 14-06-2014, 18:55.

This sounds really bad, but for the PSP the main appeal for me was the ease of use via custom firmware. Not having to bother with UMD and being able to run homebrew was hugely appealing as well as the PSP being an overall personal media device - before the whole iOS/Android revolution. I owned a Vita for just under a year and sold it on, perhaps it was due to how locked down it was as a platform when compared to the PSP or perhaps it was just my preference for the Nintendo offering this time around, the 3DS.
The OS is pretty horrible to use compared to the PSP one too, IMO.

The best I could think of to answer this is that the Vita is... undead. It's dead, completely and utterly, but its corpse still shuffles along the sales line pushed on by japanese consumer spirits and leaving a dusty trail of stock order receipts from two years ago in the dark recesses of games store stockrooms.
PS4 connectivity doesn't shift units, even Nintendo has finally cottoned on to this point for off screen plays appeal. Neither does PS1 or PSP downloads, certainly not belated downgraded ports of older PS3 games either. It's purely it's turnover of steady Japanese buyers keeping it moving at this point. All firmly Sony's fault, as Nintendo even showed how to bounce a failing handheld back to life but Sony has never once tried to make it work. If they announce Uncharted: Golden Abyss HD for console that will be the final nail. The thing is as well that most potential buyers wanted great AAA style showcases and even going all the way back there's very little on the system that isn't available in better form elsewhere. Wipeout to an extent, Uncharted, Killzone, Tearaway... maybe Gravity Rush... not enough to warrant spending much on the system for most.
It has appeal to gamers with specific tastes but it's a very low percentage, with the exception of such a specific niche audience for most the Vita TV when it hits the EU will be mugsville for anyone buying one too. It's like when Sega killed the Dreamcast and some kind souled games makers kept the occasional niche or oddity title coming for years only with Vita Sony hasn't given Vita the dignity of a barn shot to heaven. Tempted to think it's so they don't blacken their PS4 era super happy hype train with Vita's blood on their wheels.

I like that the offscreen ps4 stuff and i think this is a great selling point i also have the device on regular use thanks to the massive library of vita games I've managed to pick up via playstaion+, i don't regret getting one i think the 140 i spent on it for the machine and a 32gig memory card was well worth the money thanks to ps+. things like Tearaway and killzone mercs, Gravity Rush, and uncharted are fantastic games that I'm glad I've played them.

Is it possible to run emulators on it? Nes, Megadrive, Mame the usual stuff?

I first bought it at launch, sold it and bought one last x-mas for only 100 euros new. 3G version. Plus is worth it because I have it for PS4 anyway. No real desire to pay for Vita games. Its a very cheap investment. I have quite some games and I only bought like 2 or 3.
I agree about this being undead. Its sort of being kept alive by pushing it as a PS4 second screen and the odd Indy game. But to be honest I never use its remote play.

I don't own one but right now it seems the only reason it grab one is to use remote play for PS4. That interests me as I don't own a PS4 yet and I've seen bundles are slowly creeping out.
The only issue there is it seems ridiculous that such a powerful handheld is going to eventually be reduced to just being a second screen for it's bigger brethren. I think the last game I saw on the Vita that wowed me was killzone and since then I've heard of very little. I really hope Sony don't ditch it completely and at least bring out a few big name franchises to keep it going.
