Resi 4 has a wank story like i said, pretty much all of it is a pantomime with cheesy villains and stereotypes aplenty. It was clearly much more light hearted than previous games. The design is immense though. I couldn't believe it when I first played it, one epic moment after another and I just kept thinking, 'What's next?'.

Oh yeah, amazing game no doubt, just felt like it should have been called something else. Perhaps then they could have sat on Resi for a bit and not pumped out the tripe of 5/6, and instead made a proper survival horror years later!

Resident Evil 4 is 100% a Resi game. It has pretty much all the same hallmarks as 2 especially. Big, brash, action packed with lots to explore and silly fun puzzles. Things should always look to evolve or mix it up a bit. However it's nice to things to revert to roots also, so I hope Resi 2 will be old style.

Resi 5 is actually a solid game but the stupidity was setting it in the day and making it too reliant on AI partner.

Resi 6 should be burned from history. Mainly because it was so technically flawed.

Meh, can't disagree more. Some bullet points of what Resi "is" may have been included, but it didn't feel like a Resi game to me.

Felt like a different genre entirely to me. It's like saying they're releasing God hand 2, but now it's top down and set in space- but don't worry it controls the same from a different perspective, and still has some gay men dressed in frills and you can still spank people -SEE ITS STILL GODHAND.

Brilliant game, but definitely not Resi to me. I think the only part that felt remotely like it was in the lab at the end, a full game of that pace and atmosphere, along with moments like the burning fridge man and i'd have been happy- it's the rest of it that didn't sit right as Resi with me.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Resi 5 is the most *playable* Resi game. It's not scary, doesn't even seem like Resi 4 that much (despite almost being the same), some of the levels are dull...but when you master it, it plays like a bloody dream.

Despite my initial feeling of mehness, I pumped weeks into it on PS3 and 360. Was playing it in co-op with the nephew a few weeks back...it's just bloody good fun, we were grinning our heads off.

If it was 100% a resi game it wouldn't have divided the community like it did.

I think the Resi 4 we got was the survivor concept (remember those ****ty experimental games?) concluded. They got it working, it was brill, but pissed off a lot of fans. The added ****e influence of the films also meant we had to deal with nonsense like this.
