wow i thought snake eater and marathon would be locked down, at least on console... that just makes the whole Showcase score a D (from a C)

So happy I can play DDII and MGS on my PC! I still need Death Stranding.

As for the handheld, lol. What a streaming pile of PS. I suppose streaming isn’t so bad when we’re talking cinematic/narrative-driven stuff. Was there a price?

        I'm not sure you do.

Therefore when it inevitably fails, Sony can just quietly ditch/discontinue it.

The WiiU gamepad’s zero latency streaming was pretty good (beating the response of our TV at the time, even), and very handy if you were a one TV household, as we were in Singapore for many years.

It wasn’t as bad as R.O.B, or the Power Glove. Plus, it led to the Switch.

I've tried remote gaming at home from say in bed connected to my PS, but it's not the greatest. Can a device like this Q improve remote gaming? Does it have special tech that improves the feature apart from what you can see physically? Is there some special tech inside? If not, then it's a bit of waste.

Other than that I’m with NI on current gen cynicism. I’m desperately looking for excuses to get another console (like the old days where I’d have all platforms) but I’m struggling with my traditional tastes. Thankfully I’m happy with what Nintendo are putting out, and have enough of a retro backlog to last me several lifetimes.

The only reason it had good latency was because you had to be pretty much tethered to the WiiU. Zero range. Objective defeated.

Nintendo didn't make the Power Glove. Mattel did. It wasn't a first-party peripheral.

R.O.B. was quite clearly Nintendo's trojan horse route for the NES into the US market given the fact that the early 1980s videogame crash had made consoles toxic in North America.

R.O.B. is also now a highly-prized and expensive collector's item today whereas you literally cannot give WiiUs away. Definitely superior to the Gamepad by miles.

Dads of the worlds unite!!!, So its a constant fight to get on the TV for me so a low latency second screen for the ps5 is perfect, it fulfills the same purpose at sitting on the sofa playing a switch, you can do some gaming and not monopolize your main TV to do so.

For all the negativity going on in other posts, it really makes me feel this place has become infested with grumpy old men, we where shown a ton of new exclusives which looked really cool, like Sword of the Sea, Phantom Blade Zero, Synapsis, Final Fantasy 16 And Helldivers 2, (the first Helldivers was a top down isometric shooter and was a gem of a shooter) and a few things that didnt intrest me like that heist game and fornite/splatoon, then we have a ton of multi-format stuff like Marathon, The Talos Principle 2, Dragons Dogma, Metal Gear Ect .

For me last nights presentation was a win for gaming with so many cool games shown that i want to play and if Microsoft can get some of the stuff shown on gamepass that would be a great win too as its games i don't have to buy.
                    .

There's no price or even a sniff of one for the Q yet but given the Edge is £210...

Not the only reason, it barely had to encode anything as it was 854x480 pixels - the more pixels you have, the more data you have to encode and send in multiple packets over a network, then reassemble the packets, decode at the other end, and eventually then display so the end user can react to what's shown (and crash because it's completely awful for anything racing related). There's no getting away with latency on steaming content, it will always be there because physics.

Well, unless Sony has perfected quantum entanglement - perhaps that's how you're going to connect it to the PS5.

It still remains that the range on the Gamepad was utter garbage and that you pretty much had to be tethered to the WiiU at all times.

Its a tricky one as its not a stand alone system, Microsoft pushed the G Cloud Gaming Handheld and that's kinda fallen flat at £330 as it costs the same as a switch ( your in steam deck territory with that price point too) , but you cant even play Things like fortnite or genshin impact on it locally (its built on android OS) as its not powerful enough.

When you can get things like Amazon fire tablets for £40 and a ps5 controller is £60, you could argue from a value position that this thing for what it is should be no more than £100, they kind of painted themselves into a corner with the stupid pro controller being so expensive so no doubt this will be Switch oled territory price wise which i wont be paying and i can see a use for this which most won't.

Well yes, I don't disagree - it was built on top of Miracast IIRC - the Q will use wifi. Based on the presentation, it seems like Jimmy has a bone in his pants over streaming

Unfortunately, today is not the place for me to disclose these plans, but we do have some fairly interesting and quite aggressive plans to accelerate our initiatives in the space of the cloud that will unfold over the course of the coming months
I can't really see that over 30 million people have bought a PS5 to stick under their TVs just to go stream content over the internet, but I fear there are too many people who just don't notice or care about the associated latency with it to stop the oncoming storm, after all - Netflix works, right?

It looked for a moment like your dream had come true ... but then 'Metal Gear Legacy Collection'. Not sure if they've had a lick of paint or what? I will be looking forward to replaying them though, whatever form they take.

EDIT: is that separate to a Snake Eater remake?
