I usually play at night so have low volume but last night I had my headphones on and it gets really annoying quickly.

Ive switched contrast mode on too and I prefer it. It makes the background darker but the boxes stand out more. Doesn't seem to effect games, just the UI.

Cool I'll try that. I don't mind the layout of the UI too much, it's a bit jarring coming from Xbox but seems well laid out... I'm just a bit shocked it's so basic after a year.

It's alright, it does the job. There are a few issues I have with it. I know they've gone for the minimalist approach, buts missing some features too.
Its basically the polar opposite of the Xbox UI.

Just wish they’d implement folders like on the PS4. Made organising games so much easier and cleaner

Me. Well, Gran Turismo at least. It’d be nice if I could play that without having to fight tooth and nail to buy a big, bulky console just for the one game (which I’d never do anyway). I don’t mind waiting a year or two considering the alternative is to never play it at all. The same goes for the DS remake.

Even sweeter if I could play with “RTX on”, which is what I’m doubting here. Now that would be worth waiting for - even if I already had a PS5.

Honestly, I was in a similar boat until this year. I wasn't interested in any Sony Exclusives, to me they all looked silly and not my type of thing. Then Sony threw a few at me for free, I played them and I ate my hat.

You can read my first impressions of actually owning the PS5 in the "what are you playing" thread... it is a damn fugly console but there is a lot to love about it.

I think if you've already got a powerful PC and play that way regularly then a wait and see approach might be the way to go given the recent news with more Sony titles heading that direction. That said though, are we really expecting Gran Turismo to hit PC in 2022? You might be waiting a while but no-one really knows what the actual lead time is going to be on a title by title basis.

For me, having never owned a PS4 and missing out on some key titles (which I bought in sales digitally over the past year) I was always going to buy a PS5. It was just a question of when... I also don't own a gaming PC. My PC is a tiny NUC model who's sole duty outside of browsing is to handle all my Plex media.

I also prefer playing with a controller for pretty much anything so really it was console all the way.

I am really enjoying the PS5 or more specifically the dual sense and the deluge of first party hits I am trawling through as a snails pace. For me it's like all of Sony's exclusives have launched with the console. Remember those days!? Yeah I wish the console was smaller, looked "normal" and has some better UI options but they are smaller niggles in the bigger picture. I also grabbed one now just because I was able to, getting lucky in the recent re-stocks.

There is still a lot of uncertainty in the stock levels going forward, I am sure it will be bone dry after Christmas.

Personally, I'm not expecting GT7 to hit PC next year... if I'm being honest it wouldn't shock me if it never did given the PC market isn't exactly one crying out for more racing sims and GT carries with it a lot of licensing costs etc. I suppose it will partially depend on how slowly Polyphony plans on rolling out GT8 but GT7 on PC would be one of the lesser interesting offerings.

I don’t think PC will see GT7 at all to be honest, pc already has all the other racing sim games on it already, so it would be facing stiff competition VS nothing like horizon or GoW which they want to use to draw people into console sales for the sequels.

What PS5 games did you get?

I haven't bought any PS5 games yet. There's very little there that interests me.

With Bloodborne and Demon Souls I'm not sure I'd enjoy them that much. I've got all three Dark Souls games and only gotten a few hours into them. Don't think they're for me but they were titles I picked up stupid cheap in sales.

Last Guardian interests me but I can't remember if it got any PS5 upgrades? I know you could play it frame unlocked using the disc version and not patching it but unsure if it then got updated officially?

I've got enough on my plate as it is though so I'm not in any rush.

Currently the only way to play Last Guardian at 60fps is to turn off the internet on your PS5, as whatever you do with turning off updates it always updates as soon as you out the disk in, which obviously it shouldn’t do it you have them turned off but it overrides the console settings anyway.

If someone has a way to stop this while connected to the net I'm all ears.
