According to Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, Switch 2 could be announced this week, before Nintendo's earnings report on November 5.
He mused this during a Youtube livestream and now his Twitter is private. Dorsn't mean a thing, but it'll be probably enough to restart the rumor mill.

It’s not, 1 last Christmas for Switch before they announce Switch2 in Feb/Mar for a release in Nov/Dec25.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 29-10-2024, 09:48.

I'm not expecting it to be revealed in 2024, way too damaging to the original Switch to do it - possibly the worst time of the year. Era has been hung up on it for weeks because of the timing of the original Switch announcement but (as is the way with how bad they've been with Switch update guesses for years now) they pay no attention at all to how dramatically different Nintendo's marketplace position was in October 2016

Yeah the WiiU days are completely irrelevant. That machine had been on its arse for years by that point, served with only bare minimum maintenance efforts like that Mario Tennis game. Switch absolutely has legs this Christmas.
The start of next year is a given I think. My personal guesses would be early Feb for an announcement and July for the release. The machine has likely been ready for a while now and I don't think they will wait as long as next Xmas to launch.

A small mercy then Nintendo for once.
Switch BC for Switch 2 is obviously a good thing - the only sane decision that Nintendo could come to on that score.
Nintendo Switch Online is absolutely gashtastic though. Would it really kill Nintendo to provide dedicated servers for proper online infrastructure? No, I don't want a sh1t halfbaked Spotify derivative, nor do I really want mediocre-at-best classic game emulation.

I'm sure it'll be backwards compatible with physical cards, and I don't think Nintendo will have any problem re-selling 'remastered' Switch 1 games. Sony have had great success with even the lightest remasters of the most recent games, despite comprehensive physical and digital backwards compatibility. Nintendo will aim to do the same.
I know a few on here are scooping up Switch 1 first party titles as they drift out of print, but I honestly don't personally think it's worth it, since they'll assuredly get enhanced rereleases on Switch 2 for the most part.
