Is it against the rules to talk in depth about BT here?

All depends what your asking I think

If you want to know about setting up a BT program I think thats OK - there are other threads in this folder about that.

I was just wondering why my downlaod rate was on average 8kbps even though i'm downlaoding from 150+ peers?

Just bumped it up to medium and i don't think specular lighting was on before.

A warning to anyone downloading the game. One of the torrents has a virus attached to the keygen. Scan the keygen before you open it. If it is infected you can just delete the keygen and find one some where else.

First impressions without any spoilers.

Incredibly atmospheric - the lighting inside is amazing and really sets the scene for you being in an industrial complex full of tight, claustrophobic corridors.

I'm playing it in total darkness and I've had a few "moments", but nothing too bad. There are some pitch black areas though when the power goes and you can hear footsteps, but you can't have your flashlight and a weapon active, so things are a bit interesting to say the least.

Its obviously more story driven than any previous Doom game, but that's to be expected. You get short cut-scenes done in the engine which are obviously drip-feeding you the storyline. The paths through levels look fairly static though - not sure if there are alternative ones, but on first play it looks like you're being driven down a single route.

Interaction with other characters and the scenery is greater than before. You also gather information in your PDA and its up to you how much you trawl through it which in turn I'm guessing will let you open up secrets in the single player game. Obviously there are some points which cannot be passed without using info in it, but things like security clearance to open major doors are automatically updated.

I'm running it on Medium, 1024*768 on a GF5900XT and its looking very good. I'll have a play with higher res later. The player models are great - look good, move good, talk good. Haven't really played with the physics engine or had much of a chance to check out the enemies as you're only interested in surviving in the first while - its fairly frantic at one point.

Oh, the plot so far reminds me of HL tbh. A few comparisons in the first couple of levels. And there's a cool effect stolen straight out of Blade.

Can't you just delete the virus and use the Keygen?

My worse moment was worsened by external factors, i was getting rather tense and had teh fear of going through a door, i was just going for it then my phone started rumbling away which made me jump, so i sorted that out, went speak to parents (it was my sis) got back on doom3, completely forgot about teh fear and without ruining anything nearly shat myself

Just turned it up to High quality and still running nicely.....

Roost - its that fear of going through doors that is starting to get me! That and plain bricking it at some of these things coming after you.

Sound - fantastic btw. The sound of fireballs coming towards you is great.

And did I mention the lighting?!

I know!! Never knowing what to expect next, when you can hear so many things around you :S

When i was playing with the settings i had specular lighting off, and didn't really think much about it, went have a play again, turned them on and i was :O

Will give the lighting a go, ta for tip. Nice touch - in a totally dark room and first thing I knew of an enemy was this pair of eyes nearly on top of me.

i appreciate that "warez" chat etc is very much discouraged here but people on about virus' in keygens from "certain" places etc make me giggle a little

.nfo file anyone ??....

the keygen is absolutely useless, ur not gonna be able to play online using any of them created, why bother with it...

if your gonna get games "early", at least have some knowledge of what your taking part in... otherwise leave it alone

u run the risk of corrupting your system for a mere game using a ten bob "**** torrent" client...

its not worth it...
