Bah, my mate told me i can just stop my ipod from updating the library everytime i plug in my ipod, any ideas how i can do this?

right click->properties->manage manually

trouble is, I think you may need to connect it before being able to do this.

try looking into anapod or ephpod, which will not remove in sync, and should try and fix the database. third party software so be warned, may all go tits up.

I couldn't suggest anything more useful though, as I've not been in that position. ephpod has retrieved a couple of lost songs for me in the past however.

Link - go to www.ipodlounge.com and have a wee look around the forums and also download sections of the site. I am 100% sure there is software on there to copy from pod to PC.

Aha, thanks alot to both of you, i got a program off ipodlounge called `EuPod volume booster` and it's intended use is to boost the volume of the eu ipod (which it does do, it makes it deffening almost) but its got some little plug in for itunes that stops itunes syncing your ipod with itunes, so that worked out great! thanks alot i would have gone insane if i lost all my music, i disabled the auto sync thing on my ipod as well, thanks for that!

If anyone is still interested in buying an iPod, Apple are selling refurbished 3G models very cheap. (The word on the street is that these are not refurbished at all and it's just Apple offloading old stock).

Now does any of the software run on Windows 98?

Does it come with software to convert your CD collection into MP3? (I have this anyway but just wondered)

Where can people download legit songs other than iTunes (that's what everyone does right???)? Does the fact her main pc connection only has a 56k connection balls things up a little?

Is there a carry case for the mini, apple only seem to do a duff armband!!?

Where is the cheapest place to get an iPod mini? ?170 seems the going rate I can find.

That looks awful tempting! Amazon have Ipods going for 207 which is a good price imho but the zen with its replacable battery and optional backlit control is looking awful hot.
