I have not had this problem with the ipod touch in particular however, hen using safari on my macbook, previously imac both times this has happened with me and to access my hotmail on the mac I had to use firefox so in the end I had to switch to gmail, it seems the same problem now applies to the ipod touch, I think it has something to do with the cache.

Hello,
Wonder if anyone can help me. Our home pc has recently deceased and my iPod was attached to this, and as your Ipod can only be connected to one pc or laptop I have lost all my music on there and cannot obviously add or delete anything only charge the Ipod on my laptop. Does anybody know a way of disconnecting my Ipod from my pc and re attaching it to my laptop so I keep all my music thats actaully on the Ipod but can also add new music via my laptop?
Thank You

I'm sure I've attached my Ipod to my laptop before and it wont let me transfer music onto it or take music off it either because it was originally synched up to my main pc.

i gathered from tiz's post that the ipod is set up to automatically sync (hence the message when plugging it into the laptop, which iirc doesn't appear if the ipod is set in manual mode).
also i'm pretty sure if you click cancel when prompted with the message about erasing and syncing, it causes the ipod to be removed from the list on the left?
depending on how much music you have on the ipod, you could just open it in my computer, go to the folder options and enable viewing hidden files, then drag the music folder (it's inside the 'ipod control' folder) into itunes and it should copy the music to the laptop. if your itunes is set to copy music to the itunes folder and also organise, it'll name the music files properly
