Anyone know why the iPod Classics don't have the Recently Added, Recently Played and Most Played songs under Playlists?

Think its an option in iTunes isnt it? Click on your iPod, then choose the Playlists tab. Might need to tick it to sync them?

Aha, I see. If you got to File -> New Smart Playlist you can make your own specific hierarchical playlist. Nice.

Just took the plunge and jailbroke my Touch (1.1.1). Took me all of 10 seconds to do and now I have a nice NES icon (amongst other things)

So far I'm liking it a lot, compared to the black and white screen of before, but it does seem to be a bit sluggish when scrolling through music, accessing different options, and for the album art to load up, but I'm sure it can all be sorted with a firmware update.

Also, there seems to be a different sorting structure compared to iTunes, particularly the sorting of the Cover Flow, which seems to be more like an Artist Flow instead of Albums, like I assumed it would be.

And the damned mirror backing is so annoying, I've looked after it since I got it, and have kept it in a case, yet it still has an almighty scratch already
Depending on where the scratch is on the back, you can always give Brasso a shot. It's what I used to use to clean my iPods before selling them on eBay. It may not get rid of it entirely but it will at least lessen the damage.

Not sure if this is known, I certainly missed it in the the operating instructions. On an iPod Touch, double tapping the 'Home' button brings up a mini music player with volume control, play. fast forward etc. It also brings up a music button if you want to access your music library. Pretty handy really.

                    Didn't realise that. Cheers Nige!

I've tried various scratch removal systems on past iPods and I've come to the conclusion they do more harm than good. It comes down to a few big scratches in isolation, vs millions of micro scratches all over the back (created through the scratch removal process). Personally I prefer the former.

Best option though,- treat the iPod like a precious thing and don't get it scratched in the first place!

True enough, I always get screen protector things for my iPods just in case. The original Nano and 5th gen were magnets for scratches so as soon as they left the box, I slapped some a few Martin Fields shields on them and 2 years later, they still look absolutely minty fresh.
