Naturally the Tosh doesn't have a DVI in, only HDMI.
You can get these cables from Maplin, ?20 for their own one or (eek) ?130 for the Monster one.

Off to Maplin then - thanks for the info

Ohhh genius idea, I'm gonna put my PC through the HDMI port so I dont need to keep switching between the Oppo and the PC on the DVI port. Hopefully that will work with the HDMI>DVI cable Oppo sent me by mistake!

It does, I do the same thing When the PS3 comes out though, it'll be religated down to the VGA though.

I always wanted to do this, but I always assumed VGA was a better connection for the PC. Are there any drawbacks to using your HDMI slot with the PC?

No. The HDMI acts pretty much the same as a DVI connection.

Some TV's don't allow PC resolutions through HDMI, but the LG does.

Dude, mine isnt working with HDMI!!? Same TV as yours, normal HDMI>DVI cable i got with the Oppo and its plugging into my PC with GeForce 6600GT. Should work perfect, any ideas why not?

I have no idea, but maybe the lead is not suitable for the reverse operation, ie DVI>HDMI?

                  EDIT

That's exactly how the Oppo can be connected, ignore my post.

Oh well technically it is a DVI>HDMI then!

Because it came with my Oppo which plugs into the DVI port on that to the HDMI on the TV, thats what its for and I'm using it from the DVI on my PC to the HDMI on my TV.

So it is the same way, strange that it wont work.

                      Re : LG 32LX2R HDMI/HDCP Problems.

I've been following the thread about the above over at avforums.com.

1 : LG have now got a firmware update. Problem is you have to send the TV to LG so they can do the update. Something i wouldn't be keen on doing.

2 : The TV will accept some HDCP devices through the HDMI socket even in PAL mode. I picked up a LG DVX9900H DVD player today and it works fine through the HDMI socket and plays PAL discs happily at 720p +.

Rossco, setting the HMDI input to PC makes no difference?

                        Comment

Yeah, tried that already, it was already on PC anyway but changed between that and DTV and it makes no difference.

It would seem the Toshiba I've got doesn't allow it. Plugged in my shiny new DVI - HDMI and I'm presented with a blank screen for my efforts. Bugger!

No - wait ! just checked the package for the cable and it says HDMI - DVI.
Are these things one way only?

You know, ATi's newest range of graphics cards support Component output (through the DVI-I and come with the correct adaptor)... so if worst comes to the worst, you could use it as an excuse to treat yourself to a new graphics card.

That's encouraging to hear, I'm gonna wait until SkyHD hits as my Oppo is happy through DVI at the moment. If it's fine then it's fine, but if not it's good to hear there's an update.
