Aye through the PC using VLC or Media Player Classic, got a DVI-HDMI lead ready and waiting

Just thought I'd mention, I connected my Wii up to my Bravia S over Composite, and was suprised to find it looks alright! It's no Component, but it's usable until I get a Component cable. Not the blurry mess I was expecting.

That said, Trauma Center and CoD3 look noticably poorer than DBZ and the Virtual Console games. In CoD3 in particular the text is a blurry mess. Quite why some games look better than others is beyond me.

The BRAVIAs should all have a decent comb filter built in, so composite won't look as bad as you were expecting. I'm a bit worried how it's going to look on this Toshiba, I've not tried composite from anything yet.

Yeah, I've always liked how Sony do comb filtering.

You should see them when you feed them a good quality composite video source - as weird as it sounds, the stuff you get from lower end DVD players and games consoles is usually really blurry composite video. I remember hooking up a Pioneer DV-668AV (bulky beast) and was amazed at how watchable composite could look... not that you'd ever want to hook it up that way of course...

The comb filtering in the Crystalio II is nothing short of breathaking, Laserdisc going into that and then onto a 7ft screen through a 9" CRT looks stunning, beats progressive straight in from a Tag McClaren DVD with some films, which is saying something.

That does sound pretty special How much for one of those?

Not cheap, the Crystalio II comes in two flavours, the basic one, if you can call it that is ?2999.00 and the Pro version is ?3699.00, this adds hd-sdi, and an internal media player that is connected via hd-sdi too, it also has Precision Video Clocks too.

Very, very impressive bit of kit.

Just wondering what settings fellow Bravia owners are using?

                  Mine are:

                  Component

                  Backlight 7
                  Contrast 90
                  Brightness 57
                  Colour 52
                  Sharpness 10

                  VGA

                  Backlight 5
                  Contrast 90
                  Brightness 50

I'm not currently using Scart or HDMI for anything.

I be interested to here how composite from LD works out on the Bravia's and Toshibas if anyone could post a quick impression, thanks.

The TVs have Temporal Noise Reduction and on its "Low" setting it's surprisingly non-destructive and good for the odd LD that I watch.

                      For what devices?

360 (Component) and PC (VGA/occasionally 360). I've also got my PS2 plugged in to Component - thankfully it manages fine with the same settings.

The PS3 and Wii will eventually be plugged into HDMI and Component respectively.

The W is probably a bit different from the 32v2000 I had, but I'd say you're best to have contrast maxed, power saving on low with backlight set to suit your room lighting, colour around 45, brightness around 54, temperature warm, clear white on low, gamma low, colour space wide, everything else off, sharpness around 7. (I found 0 to be too soft)

At the very least, it should be a good starting point.

EDIT: That was for the 360.

I've gotta have a play around with my setup, I seem to get an ghastly amount of Noise on dark images on my 360 via VGA.

I'm just hoping there is a power lead too close to the VGA lead

Can you guys recommend a 3 meter HDMI-HDMI cable for use on PS3? Not sure if I'd actually get better quality paying the premium prices.

I don't mind paying the extra for quality, but not for a placebo.
