I registered almost 2 weeks ago, last Monday was my first day in lectures. And the company giving me my loan received all my documents on the 22nd of September. And still no news.

Not sure whether to get the Samsung with out without built in Freeview, is the quality alright? Better than nothing or just not worth it at all?

Greenwich has the built in digibox so you can get all the freeview channels, Rome does not. Thats the ONLY difference. It was only ?30 extra so I figured meh, what the hell.

Just checked Dabs again no change to stock status

The built-in Freeview ones don't have an analogue tuner though do they? Worth considering if you use a lot of old consoles through RF.

Well I have compared the 2 specs for both models and the inputs on the back look identical....I'm not sure TBH. I was under the impression that they were identical in features except that the Greewich model has the additional OPTIONAL benifit of being able to recieve digital freeview....

it does have analog tuner, you have a button on the remote to watch digital or standard

Has anyone played Resi 4 or similar on one of the 26" or 32" Sammy LCDs? i.e. a game that is in 4:3 but Widescreen. Does the LCD have a zoom option to lose the borders? Do you lose much image quality when you do this?

                Geezer

Yes it does, I've never seen a Widescreen TV that doesn't let you Zoom in Letterboxed video. Can't speak for the Samsung, but the image was very watchable on my Sony LCD.

Haha they have just changed the stock status of thier lcd tvs.
Probably to stop me emailing them. They better despatch my order this week or they will recive another email.

I used to use Dabs before they went net-only- but now their service seems poor, and they are a nightmare to deal with!

It's playable, and probably looks alright if your sitting quite far away.
It really shows up the thing though, it somewhat looses the jaw-dropping clarity because it looks quite rough. When you consider the letterboxing, the game is quite a low resolution vertically, and the zooming makes this all too clear.

In all honesty, it just made me anticipate the PS2 versions true anamorphic widescreen play all the more.

Samsung LE32R41BD. Bought on the recommendations of others, and I have to say this is an awesome TV. I went for the freeview version even though I don't even own a TV aerial (I never ever watch TV), simply because the BD version is much easier to get hold of. ?895 including delivery from WebElectricals.co.uk.

Gamecube prog-scan stuff is fantastic. I'm impressed at how good 2D holds up on this screen, Mr. Driller looks better than ever. Resi Evil 4 looked pretty cool as well, but it's true that it loses something, and suddenly the texture resolution and quality of the game seem more obvious than before. The bane of a high quality TV.

A couple of pieces of advice:

                                - Don't buy cheap component cables. The quality is awful, and my HK PS2 one died after an hour or so. The official component cables are expensive (?15-?24ish) but worth the extra money.

                                - PAL consoles actually look really good via SVHS. God knows why, but the UK PS2 looks great via SVHS, much better than RGB Scart. I need to get a good component cable before I can compare (I need one for SOTC anyway), but it's worth going SVHS for PAL stuff. Shame the PAL GC doesn't support SVHS (right?)
