Yes it will. I recommend people waiting to buy HD screens until after HD-DVD/Bluray and HD TV are released into the mainstream. At the moment you are buying something based on a bunch of powerless gimps stamping an HD-Ready sticker on the screen which at this stage means nothing.

Thanks Neil. I will probably hold off then. A scaled up picture on a monitor looks like complete gash and my CRT is a damn decent one anyway.

Buy anything HD Ready other than that! I don't see why people settle for an average/flawed tv when they can have a tv with a better image and, IMO, looks better than that plasticy look around the samsung TV, it stops the immersion effect for me.
The Samsung is probably average (don't know about flawed IME) compared to the V32 but then it costs ?850 less For me, it does the job just fine and that ?850 will pay for my flight to KIX and a PS3 in the suitcase next year Horses for courses... but those Sony's are ultra nice.

Yep, although component/VGA cables and prog scan games reduce that a fair bit. My DC looks fine over VGA. Not razor sharp but not hideous either. I've played Xbox Amped in 720p and it looks lovely. Too bad current gen games supporting 480p or above are either few and far between or import only. The Xbox has a few exceptions.

Also, unless you're planning on re-buying all your DVDs on HD-DVD/Blu-Ray, you'll be wanting to get an upscaling player at some point. It depends on your DVD library but I have a fair collection so I got an Oppo. Upscaling to 720p on a 26" Samsung is a million miles better than my old player over scart on the same TV.

It's a DVD player that upscales DVDs from 480i to 720p and does a very good job of it, I'm still holding back though until I see how good 360 plays DVD's compared to XBMC right now in 720p.

I'm after a new monitor and have spotted this one

DELL Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

                    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/lcd20.html

Has anyone got one and if so what's it like, or can anyone recommend something similar?

                    Thanks

                    Tommy
                    I've got one of these

                    http://www.viewsoniceurope.com/UK/Pr...LCDX/VX924.htm

its great, only problem is that my PC can't run the latest games at 1280*1024 all that well, I'd hate to have to run it even higher on another screen.

I have my PC on the tv now and the football in the corner but want to hear the football and not the tv. How do you do it?

                      Can you?

                      100 pages, wooo!
No, sadly not. There're 2 workarounds, installing a TV card on the PC or getting the sound from another tuner, like the VCR, directly connected to speakers.

I got it direct from Oppo (http://www.oppodigital.com/). You can get it from a UK supplier though (http://www.itsupplies.net/product_in...roducts_id=247) but the VAT inclusive price is at the bottom in smaller type the sneaky buggers.

The only reason I went with Oppo direct was to try and avoid customs I didn't, but the whole price including fees was ?165 so it wasn't too bad.
