My Real Arcade Pro Hori shipped today so no more cursing the Xbox controller for mistakes. I have to say some of you are far to harsh on the shotos I only play with him a lot because I am learning third strike from scratch but you are right the tactics from II do not work on 3.

However I hate corner tactics and find if I have a player trapped I will stop and jump away (unless I have zero health).

I have tried using Chun Li but I find her unusable s I am used to the version from II. I have tried some of the other characters but not found one that I have fun with yet. Probably will try some on-line matches with Makoto, what would be a good character to learn next?

Corner tactics should be a very important part of your game, man. You want to keep the pressure on as much as you can (unless you're playing as Chun Li *boo-hiss!*) and being able to keep opponents cornered is a big asset.

Makoto is a great character in the right hands, but her game is very much pressure-oriented, so again: you might want to re-think that "jumping away when cornered" strategy.

And enjoy the Pro - it's a great stick.

Makoto's my weapon of choice. Her flying kick (and axe kick) can be used to play wicked mind games, and her dash is just incredible. From one side of the screen into a throw in less than a second. Truly ****s them up. There's so many tricks you can do as well (although as I'm finding, as soon as someone realises the tricks, you're ****ed). My favourites:

        1) Knock the opponent down. As they get up, pull a QCB+P to put them back down again. Try it again for a laugh too. As soon as they realise this, you're ****ed though, because they'll parry it and **** you up.

        2) Knock the opponent down. As they get up, jump straight up and do an axe kick (QCB + K in air) and no doubt they'll block low, giving you a free hit. You can mix this up better than (1) though, because instead of kicking, you can wait for them to try to parry and just do nothing, land, then throw

        3) Standing throw (headbutt) then dash towards and do it again. This throw gives you ****loads of stun damage, so if you choose SA1 then they're ****ed if you do this. I've managed to stun people by just doing this trick on it's own, just dash throw dash throw dash throw stun SA1 dead >_<

There's more, but im drunk ;p

Think I won 3 or 4 out of about 20 vs whoever was on hermit the other night with their cycle of Ryu, Sean and Alex. Saw thru Sean but my recovery and counters were being dirty ignorant bitches and I just got trounced. Got caught with the Taunt into tackle far too many times for my liking

Enjoyable fights tho, dont fight many Seans and it's good to learn how another player plays. No matter how hard you get beat. Is the only way to improve

Left decent pad and convertor in bros car tho after prodigy tuesday so am gonna give Pop2 a try see if the critisism is founded.... cant afford to throw my spad against the wall, they is expensive.

You know when you've been pwnd when you swear you must getting lag, somehow.

Utterly trounced by Sandcastle as his Makato. Knew it wasn't going to be a good night when Elena hit the floor after around 6 hits. The perfect didn't help either. So I'll have to take it like a man, throw up my hands and say I ****ing hate you, you bitch

whenever i fight somewone, it says that network conditions are good (well, usually), but i still find parrying online way harder than 2 player on DC. Is the timing significantly different?

I haven't played the DC version in aaages, but yes, even the slightest lag will **** up the parry timing you learned offline. You just have to adjust accordingly.

It sucks, but it's not game-breaking.

                          I was, just now.

Had some great games against PervertedHermit. Dayum, brutha - you got one tricky-ass Sean. Your mix-up play with him is great - caught me out several times. Your Alex isn't bad either.

I think we ended up 5-3 to you in the end? Great stuff!

I've hardly ever played as Hugo tbh, I think I won through sheer luck and the fact we were both making stuff up as we went along
