I think you have some strange personality trait where you're worried about what other people think because you either don't have the 'correct' job or the gear to feel like you want to start a party. i've partied with some of the ****test pld's, sam's and drg in the last 2 weeks and all i thought was at least im getting exp, im current trying to do that on monk which is in the same boat as your ninja, 1 exp party so far with Rep the rest made up from soloing trial mobs, exp scrolls and campaign, and thats mainly my fault for not making a party, if you need those god dam merits to level up get rep to come rdm/whm, get me to come cor, we'll find some ****ty lvl 75's and get those merits.

I don't remember you ever once asking for our help outside those trials, and turned Rep and i down twice for exp parties when all we need was one lvl 75/76 to get you those exp, just ticks me off(and im sure rep to) that you've taken such a negitive attitude since the patch, plus you have ranger which seems just as good for the new/old game content stuff as any other job, specially given all the nasty AoE these new mobs now put in VNM's and Abyssea.

While I respect the decision to call it a day, it does seem like a strange one. Echoing what Tobal is saying, you have been negative non-stop since the update. Getting invites has nothing to do with your job, I didn't get 1 in the first 3 days on WHM, at which point I started creating the parties that Tobal mentioned, since that I'm on capped exp with 5 new merits.

NIN doesn't have a solid role, we've established that, but why is this time any different? It's not as if you've become completely useless overnight, you can still play your job better than anyone I know. I've lost count of how many times I've defended your job (take the FL Assaults for example and the Midgard comments). RNG is a job in demand too.

Going back to the party thing, we were never going to level synch to you, we told you that several times. We needed a tank, not a 75. The Relic NIN we did end up with was completely **** (had no Shadow tools etc).

If you need exp/merits, we'll do some MMM during the week. Although I know you've already made up your mind. So that said let's at least get the missions sorted.

Rare does have a point though, the game is clearly reaching the end of it's life-cycle, the lvl99 and Abyssea seem like a desperate attempt to fill the gap before XIV arrives. I mean, after Wings, what is there to do?

That is something that I've been going over myself for the last week or so as I have given consideration as to whether I'll continue or not. Just to be clear, this hasn't been a snap decision. I made sure I levelled WAR to 40 last weekend then made a concious effort to seek for EXP, giving myself a week to see how it went.

So, what is different? NIN has been in a bad way for at least a couple of years now, not technically any weaker but a series of improvements to jobs that can perform similar roles meant it, comparatively, became a poorer choice. The conclusion I've reached is that it didn't really matter to me at the time. I got 75 long before this happened and the majority of my merits were picked up when the job got regular merit invites. And Hudoo invited me to join his startup LS which granted me an opportunity to earn the gear I needed to "finish" the job off.

Since then, the level 75 cap meant it was very rare for new gear that I felt absolutely necessary to be added (Salvage pieces being the the only items where I felt I was genuinely lacking) with most new pieces being side grades or such slight improvements that they never bothered me much. Any merits I needed were so insignificant enough that I could just pick them up whenever I could via campaign, soloing, farming etc. I was able to achieve most of what I wanted on my own or in our small group and I'd managed to convince myself that endgame didn't bother me.

But the EXP amounts for getting to 80 are so large that it's not something I can do solo. Well technically I could, but would take me forever and the problem would just re-manifest itself at the next level cap increase which will demand over twice as much EXP again. And as I've mentioned previously, even if I did manage it, I'm going to be stuck in the same level 75 equipment with little to no means of making the necessary upgrades. The days where I would farm for days on end to for money for new equipment as I was levelling to 75 are long gone as back then I thought it was a worthy aim to gear myself well as it would mean that down the line I wouldn't have to infuture. But what I've learnt is that what's important is the jobs that you level, not how well you gear/play them.

In my defence here,there was one incident not long back that basically magnified this self-doubt to an extent that I actually came to question whether to continue. Was a Nyzul Isle floor 80 shout at 5 just needing a DD (he had reserved Askar body which probably explained why he was stuck at 5). Sent the leader a tell saying I was interested and he asked what jobs I had. When I responded with RNG and NIN the only response I got was "eh lol". He carried on shouting for about 20 minutes before he eventually gave up and did campaign (yes I /sea all stalked him ). This guy would rather not attempt Nyzul Isle at all than go with RNG or NIN. Can you not at all see how confidence shattering that would feel?

Im on my phone so cant post half of what i would want to but, i have the same problem rare with some of my jobs. Who wants a PLD in merit exp? I also have mnk and nin. BLM i dont even know were im going to stat? BLM in exp pty lololol

Taken my pld to 3 abyssea runs and its halfway though 77. As ive said before you would be very welcome to these runs with me and tobal and the others.

Plus its pretty fun finding all this new stuff!

Anyways its all going to become meh in september when i move onto 14 lol.

I always made my own parties as I'd have to wait until 2am for an invite, and generally knew who not to play with around my level. It was also hard to convey the message that I had two jobs synched until I was in somewhere.

If no one else is doing it at the time, MMM is the best way to exp. This exp is before the 2nd exp chest is opened too.

Wings Mission tomorrow night if people are interested, not sure what to do as the next 3 are all fights, so hopefully get them all done in one sitting.

How much did it cost to take Synergy to 70? I've heard it's actually quite a cheap craft to level.

Also, Wings may be problematic for me tomorrow. (EDIT - scrap that. Should be sorted so can do mission tomorrow).

Synergy was hilariously cheap to cap, especially with Alchemy levelled. If you craft your own Fewell, prob under 100k 0-70.

Congratulations

That was actually what i heard about Synergy (the 100k figure). Seems almost churlish not to level it when it's so cheap. Apparently it's quick to level too (i.e. 10 levels in less than an hour up to level 40). Will maybe read up on it. Judging from your screenshot, it operate on a seperate cap like fishing too.

I presume the plan is for the mission to happen around 7/8pm ish?

Massive farming session in abyssea today really getting into it now. We got 5.5k curor 9k ish exp, bunch of mats and 4 of the int +7 belts!!

We also picked up the 1st key item towards the gigas mission. Harsh drop rate 1/6.
