True RSG does look good and can be impressive but like kubrick pointed out, it's quite slow at times. not a shooter for those who like it fast like me Even the music was dull I thought. Still, each to their own Personally I love playing Layer Section, Soukyugurentai, Hyper Duel, Shienryu and DoDonpachi more.

@E.Randy Dupre - Yep, I finished it. Not an easy challenge at all. Could be one of the toughest shooters I've played in a long time.

Managed to get myself some more games and here are my thoughts:

          Elevator Action Returns
Absolute class - one of the games i bought the saturn for

          Streetfighter Zero 3
Again brilliant and i'm impressed the saturn manages to put off graphics to the standard of the dreamcast

          layer section 2
pretty decent shooter - quite good but there are better shooters on the saturn

          cyberbots - full metal madness
the first time i've played this and its a very decent game - nice big sprites that are animated very well

streetfighter - real battle on film
right its not the best - but it plays like a streetfighter game, almost

          dynamite deka
          i love it - brilliant

          pocket fighter
very good fighter that seems linked to puzzle fighter in many ways

          golden axe: the duel
alright game - was expecting worse, so quite happy

          darius gaiden
love this series from taito and it doesnt disappoint

          strikers 1945
          pretty decent shooter

          soukyugurentai otokuyo
was expecting better as it seems this game is rated quite high, little disappointed

          burning rangers
never actually seen this game before and it looks much like daytona in its style of graphics, like a train smash - but gonna try and get into it more in the next few weeks as it seems its rated quite highly

          winter heat
love it - as the german would say

          panzer dragoon zwei
as good as its always been - not aged that badly either, serious eye candy

          next on my hit list
          KYUKYOKU TIGER II PLUS
          BATTLE GAREGGA
          SENGOKU BLAEDE
          BATSUGUN
          REAL BOUT SPECIAL
          SIDE POCKET 2
          STREET FIGHTER II INTERACTIVE MOVIE
          DEAD OR ALIVE

If there is any others i need to get for my collection that havent already been mentioned - please post here as thanks to some of the guys i've tried some real gems i wouldnt have bought

Nice you picked up some of my faves there, particularly Darius Gaiden. Golden Axe the Duel is neat-o, cool bg & musics

Excellent graphics & music (is this the reason why everyone likes it? ), but I'm with you, it's pretty boring. Don't let it put you off getting Garegga though, as that's MILES better and definitely one of the TOP Saturn shooters.

              KYUKYOKU TIGER II PLUS
Didn't like this one either, so didn't play it much. There are dozens of better games. Seem to remember it was very hard though.

              Nice haul.

metal slug, thunder force v and the gold pack 2 are on the list of items i want

but the metal slug with ram cart is still over $100 and i've seen them go cheaper within ebay uk, so i can wait

the game i really wanted was elevator action returns - happy now

the streetfighter zero 3 with ram cart pack i got was only about ?38

                  **edit**
forgot to mention that with the sfz3 pack the seller gave me a xmen vs streetfighter as well - for ?38

The Metal Slug RAM box edition is very hard to find in mint condition. Most of the boxes are sunfaded/creased, or simply ripped where the seal was removed. Finding the AES version in mint condition is easier!

It's a decent conversion. Quite a lot of slowdown, but it was good enough to get me hooked on the series.

To me, ThunderForce V is another overrated game, so don't pay over the odds for it. The "RARE!" Special Pack with the music CD is easy enough to get hold of.

                      .
i see, so would you say that a copy thats near mint is worth $105

What's that, about ?60? Yeah, it's maybe worth that much it is in genuine near-mint shape. It's one of those games that holds it's price, so you'll always get that much back for it if you find a better one down the line.

I've been big into the Saturn since June 20th 1997 (yes, I remember the exact day I bought my first Saturn). I haven't imported anything yet, but I plan to in the future once I am financially stable. Sega Rally, NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, and the Panzer Dragoon trilogy, are just a few of the games that have kept me coming back to the console over the last eight years. Reading through this thread has made me want to start playing my Saturn right now.

Thunderforce V is very overrated, those ugly polygon graphics just hurt my eyes. Also it can be very difficult to disern between what is background and what is an actual obstacle, leading to many pointless deaths. Definately my least favourate of the series.

Gimme Hyper Duel any day, that's a proper sidescroller.

what are the essential top 20 saturn games i NEED to get? (note: i hate sports games, and i enjoy games which are preferibly 2 player cooperative)

also accessories? are there that many? ive seen different control pads and a gun, oh and a wheel, is there anything else too look out for?

just sold my playstation so im looking to grab some stuff for my saturn!
