SNES, definately. Back in the day I really disliked the Megadrive and felt it's games were all style and no substance and, while I don't look at it quite so harshly anymore, still feel the SNES was a better machine with better controllers and, most importantly, better games.

Both consoles have their own personality and style.

It all comes down to the AAA games. For me, the SNES has far more. MarioWorld, F-Zero, Pilotwings, ContraSpirits, Castlevania4, Axelay, Super Aleste, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshis Island, Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Actraiser etc... etc.....

The SNES has far more games that offered, and still offer a lot of thrills.

I'm a snes-fanboy, because the machine has always been special. It's technically impressive, and its library of great titles is unmatched.

The Mega Drive has some excellent titles too. The Sonic series, Castle Of Illusion, Contra HardCorps, Castlevania, Streets Of Rage 2, Thunderforce IV, Quackshot, Ranger X, etc... etc...

Whilst the Mega Drive delivers a lot of good experiences, the SNES on the whole, delivers far more thrills and overall fun.

The SNES will always be my favourite machine ever made, and I still have good gaming sessions with it.

We got a SNES after my older brother came out of hospital having had his appendix removed. Been a Nintendo fanboy ever since.

I must admit I never played either machine in their prime. My dad had banned comuter games of any kind at the time. Once he was out of the picture though I brought myself a N64. A few months later, Mario 64 completed, I went back and brought a Snes with a bunch of games. Very excellent machine with an amazing choice of games. To this day, the Dreamcast is the only Sega machine I've ever owned. The others just don't appeal to me.

I had both.. Eventually. Started with a Megadrive and had loads of games, and then later managed to some how get hold of an import Super Nintendo with Lightgun and about 20 games. I still can't remember where I brought that.

I loved both really. But I think I preferred the gritty feel of games on the Megadrive.

To be this good takes Sega ages.

At this rate, it's also gonna take Sega ages to catch up, since SNES has over 71% of the vote!

Just been checking the sales on these bad boys.

The MD sold 29 Million consoles world wide with the top selling game being Sonic 2 at 6 million copies sold

The SNES sold 49 Million with Super Mario World selling 20 million copies.

SNES for me, my friends and I would play Mario, Pilotwings and F-Zero forever (until we got Street Fighter II). ^_^

I can't vote - because to me they were as good as each other - technical specs be dammed. If you look at the variety of titles available in their combined libraries, you're looking at a golden era of videogaming.

                        SNES all the way.

Oddly enough as NTSC-UK is a mainly a UK website I was expecting the MD to be winning. As the MD outsold the SNES in Europe.

Yeah but it's an import site 'innit

I've gone Megadrive - far too many top drawer games and as mentioned in the other thread it had a far higher overall average quality of game than the SNES (Finding good stuff to play on SNES9X involves picking through pages of dross).

Admittedly the SNES had some corkers (MarioKart ffs) but the MD/Sega had that videogame kudos at that time in history (right up until Sony stole it for the PS1).

                            Snes winning?

I see the pink community at NTSC-UK is thriving.

As much as I appreciated and respected the SNES, I have to vote for the Megadrive. It was my first foray into the world of 16-bit console gaming and was therefore the first to make a lasting impact on me.
