I would pick the Megadrive. Just got some really nice arcade ports + allot of great shooters.

I think Contra where better on the MD, and even Castlevania where better on the MD ^~-

when i was at school the only kids with megadrives were the ones who parents didnt want to shell out 199 quid for s mario snes pack, when the megadrive altered beast pack was 129 quid.

all my mates that had a megadrive ALWAYS wanted a snes.

not t o take anything away from the megadrive, but sonic aside it didnt offer the magic that the snes did, and games consistently looked/sounded better on snes.

That was true at my school too, the MD was the inferior machine, plus I had an arcade to go to, I didn't need cut down ports on a home machine really. Also, I hated sonic, HATE with a passion.

Super Mario World made it very very easy for me to decide which I liked best.

Has to be the Megadrive. More games to my tastes, looked better than the SNES and had a far better pad. And that little arcade stick was sublime.

            Megadrive.

I never had a Super Nintendo, and actually I only had a handful of Megadrive games when I was younger. Still a favourite though, still play it.

              SNES for me.

No denying the MD was ace. It was my first import console, which i remember picking up from a games expo at Earl's Court (£300!) with E-Swat and Golden Axe. Great memories. I ended up swapping it for a bowling ball.

The SNES blew me out of the water. Pilotwings, Mario Kart, SF2, Sim City, Actraiser, Axelay, Mario World, Final Fight, Final Fantasy 2 and 3, Soul Blazer, Assault Suit Valken, Castlevania 4, F-Zero... These are my true, true favourite gaming moments. Moreso than any later gen. It really was a golden age (just so expensive!).

Oh I'll be with you if it was Just the Mega CD , that machine is 2nd only to my Saturn in my best gaming moments . But the trouble was it was a Expensive add on and its not really fair to compare it to a stock Snes .

That said Batman Returns . Lunar and Switch are bloody magic . Nothing on the Snes came close to those

How many times have we had this argument?

Megadrive all the way, but both machines are excellent.

SNES - better color system, really enjoyed DKC and R&R Racing. (they looked sooo 3D, when I didn't know any better)

as much as i loved my megadrive, it had to go (at the time) to fund the Snes.... as soon as i seen Contra and street fighter. the graphics and sound just blew me a way! i did get anothe Md when i could afford it. couldn't miss all the class games it had.

                                Snes for me, just.
