I don't think it's really fair , but if we are then its no contest its the Mega CD all the way . The Lunar' s alone are some of the best games I ever played in my life , Batman and Popfulmail are just magic and the Mega CD also features the best console versions of Sensible Soccer (Still the best) , NHL 94 (the best Hockey Game around ), Fifa (16 bit) and a host of other classics .

The only same is I wished after making Final Fight , that SEGA would have ported Strider to the Mega CD

Would have been a waste of time given the quality of the Megadrive version of Strider.

Oh not in my view it could have all speech and what not from the Arcade version , plus if SEGA were to have done to Strider's music score what they did with Final Fight's onthe Mega CD , it would have been epic imo .

One can't have enough Strider (game that is )

          MD
1ST 16 Bit console for me, got a 2nd one for Imports late 1990, games I love on it!!!

I also had & have a SFC/SNES, but there are only a small quantity of games I developed and loved on that + for me the pad is not as good as the MD.

Design wise the Genesis 3 beats any SFC! And I've had them all!

            That's a joke, right?

The "rawk" arrangement of the soundtrack in Final Fight CD was rubbish, and that's not even mentioning the totally lame voice acting!

i had just returned from my first trip to the Falkland Islands with some cash in the bank and i bought myself a Megadrive and i bought my little sister a SNES because she wanted Zelda

At the time i played Sonic to death, but i always found myself playing Streetfighter 2

Nowadays i own absolutely zero Megadrive stuff, but loads of SFC stuff

Super Nintendo (or, more specifically the Super Famicom) for me - no contest. Although I would have quite happily had both if I'd had the cash when I was drooling over issues of the Complete Guide to Consoles.

In fact, I only finally got a Jap MD this year. Some great games, no doubt (shooters especially) but it was always Nintendo for me.

A trouncing, just like it was back then. \\o

The sound track was and still is bloody awesome in my view, one of the best parts of the Game , sound just somthing else through the Wondermega btw . I quite liked the voice Acting ... 'Mike Hagger here' ... Ah ... that still cracks me up

And I thought the USA dub was better than the Jp version (yes I'm sad enouugh to have both versions )

Once again, we'll have to agree to disagree!

The soundtrack to Final Fight CD has one or two standout moments admittedly (The cage fight with the Andore Brothers, for example), but overall it sounds like a second-rate rock/easy-listening album - a thorough hatchet-job of a great soundtrack. The original coin-op music is superior in every way, every time.

As for the voice acting, I'm sorry but it simply doesn't suit Final Fight and it only serves to make one of the all-time great videogame intro sequences look totally cheesy. Sega got it badly wrong there - Capcom must have been horrified!

"You son of a...! What have you done to her?"

Erm I take it you never played Resident Evil then , My god the speech and one liners in that put all others to shame.

"Stop it, Don't... Open that Door!"

                          "A Dinning room !"

“It might be handy , if you the master of unlocking take it with you “

"You were almost a gerbil sandwich"

Capcom must have been so Delighted with Sega’s Final Fight they used it as their inspiration for RE speech

Not sure I'd go that far personallly, but I digress!

And in any case, methinks you miss the point - Resi IS suited to having voice acting in it, whereas Final Fight never originally had voice acting in the first place, therefore it looks out of place and sounds terribly cheesy in Final Fight CD - fact.

Also, Sega were largely responsible for the Mega CD conversion, not Capcom, so yes - Sega DID get it badly wrong. They slightly altered the cosmetics of a game that didn't need altering just to accomodate the Mega CD platform.

At the time I'd have picked Megadrive, but now, with the knowledge I have I don't see how I could possibly pick between them.
