So buy that assumption, anyone with a Wii only has one because they can't afford a 360?

Probably not, people bought the wii because they didn't want the 360 to fail on them in 6-12months time.

            Snes vote here

Still remember getting my import snes many moons ago, you just couldnt beat it in terms of games drawing you in

            Mario
            Final Fantasy
            Secrets of Evermore
            The Mana games
            Castlevania
            MarioKart
            Donkey Kong
            F-Zero

MD did do a lot more "mature" titles like the amazing splatterhouse games but I just didnt spend anywhere near as much time playing them.

I think it was probably the other way round, don't you remember Sonic Twos-day?

I remember the slogan, not much else though. Really not a sonic fan.

edit: I was probably still playing the superior super mario world.

If we're talking stock controllers, give me an original Neo stick any day

But other than that I'll happily take an MD 6-Button or a Jap Saturn controller for their six face buttons (shoulder buttons for heavies? Ugh!) over any other pad. The DS2 d-pad is too bloody stiff for my liking.

But I digress, for me I voted for the MD. As a lover of arcade games I'd take stuff like Strider, Eliminate Down, SoR2 and TFIV over any of that Mario Paint crap on the SNES. Hehe... just kidding... I know the SNES has some awesome games like SMK and DKC but I just loved the MD for all its arcade glory. And the 6-button pad was much better for playing SF2. I mean, come on, how can anyone prefer using shoulder buttons to real buttons?

I also noticed how a lot of people here have been saying that the SNES had much better sound. Funny, in a thread on these boards not so long ago asking which console/computer had the best sound chip, the MD was right up there, just behind the C64. **** me, if there's a game on the SNES that sounds as good as SoR2 I'll concede that it has a better sound chip. I know it can sound **** whenever EA use it but some games such as Super Shinobi and Strider have awesome soundtracks. Plus the MD sound chip has its own, unique sound whereas the SNES just sounded like a generic machine with a high end sound chip, a la the Amiga.

Looks unlikely that the Megadrive will catch up now.

I voted for it, since I had more fun with Megadrive games in the early 90s. But I think SNES games hold up better these days and have survived the test of game better, on the whole.

For me a lot to do with it was the JRPG slant, the SNES had loads of these so if you did not like the genre then you would be less inclined to buy a SNES.

I think a big reason why so many people loved the Mega Drive was it's arcade ports and obvously for Sonic. The SNES had far less of them and lost out in my opinion. But it does have the near faultless Super Mario bros 3 so that really made me want one!

Just to add fuel to this debate, should the Mega-CD be included in the equation? If say we were to compare the MD, SNES and PCE, would people include CD based PCE games when giving their opinion? Seeing as most of the PCE's best games came on CD, would it be fair to?
