Watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks for the first time since I was a kid...

Wow. It was awful. No wonder Disney keep quiet about it. The crap you enjoyed when you were little...

I've watched Crumb & Breathless on blu-ray today.

Crumb is a documentary about the comic book artist Robert Crumb and his scarily eccentric family. I found it to be a really haunting film and quite shocking.

I come from what some would probably consider to be an unusual upbringing but his family's life is so alien to what's happening around them that I found it quite scary. Each of them seemed to be so close to being incredibly dangerous people and in someways they were but only to themselves.

After that I watched Breathless which it's really difficult to say anything about. It was directed by Godard & written by Truffaut which I think says everything that needs to be said.

I imported the American version although I know due out over here soon or it could already be out but the UK version is from a StudioCanal master which is a good reason to avoid it.

Watched quite a few over last week -

            The Other Guys

Really enjoyed this as it was lol frenzy for me....... Mark Wahlberg taking the piss out of himself is actually quite funny........ Ferrell is his usual comedy genius. Its obvious that Ferrell had a hand in the writing as it is litered with his typical antics. 7/10

            Rambo: First Blood

Not seen this since i was a kid at sschool, and it was very good to watch it again as it was like watching a new Stallone movie 7/10

            The Expendables

Not as good as I'd hoped and it was a struggle to get enough screen time for most of the big names......... bit miffed at which characters the movie focussed on, but it was an all out 'old' macho men, blast a thon......... Overall I enjoyed it, even for its outragious action sequences. I still feel Statham was made to look TOO good in the movie. 6/10

            Superman & Batman: Apocolypse

Kinda bored me TTYTT, but was humbled by some throwback moments in the movie. 4/10

            Grown Ups

Really liked this movie, and found it very funny! Adam Sandler never dissapoints me and ALWAYS seems to find the hottest women to cast in his movies! 7/10

            I Love You Man

Was urged to watch this and it was an interesting take on things from a guys point of view. Bit OTT in places, but for what its worth it, was enetertaining. 6/10

Bit of a comedy and action packed week. Still tryna get through most of mine and other peeps movies.

Brilliant film. Is it the Criterion edition you have? I've been mulling over ordering it myself.

Have you noticed that Angela Landsbury looked like an old bag even when she was young!!

Not really a fan of Ferrells improve, never quite seems natural to me and he always carries a joke on one punchline too many.

Yeah, Breathless & Crumb are both Criterion blu-rays. Although Breathless is probably the better film I'm more of a fan of Pierrot Le Fou which is also a Criterion blu-ray release.

Like I said, I'm fairly sure StudioCanal are releasing Breathless sometime soon but I've not been a fan of their masters to be honest. It's perhaps not as noticeable in this film but I'm not convinced by the prints they release. You may feel different of course but have a look at the comparison shots for Breathless & Pierrot Le Fou to see how you feel.

StudioCanal are releasing Delicatessen sometime soon over here and I'd tempted to get that but I dread to think what they'll do with the colours in something like that.

I've pre-ordered a load of their films lately and I'm waiting for Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Thin Red Line, Antichrist, Cronos, Videodrome & Paths of Glory.

I've somehow managed to never get around to seeing Paths of Glory and it's not out until the end of October but it really can't come quick enough for me.

They're also releasing House in October which I'd never heard of but after seeing the trailer I'm very tempted to give it a go.

Think I'll go for the Criterion version of Breathless. Not seen Pierrot Le Fou but will watch out for it. Looking forward to Videodrome coming out, the Criterion dvd was ace.

                          Over the weekend I watched:

The Gauntlet: Quite enjoyed this but found the lead woman annoying.

The Village: I tried watching this once before and got bored halfway and switched off, this time for some reason I quite enjoyed it, the twists were not that great but on the whole I enjoyed it.

Well, it is tiring going on a 200-odd episode murder spree and pinning the blame on some other poor sap every time.

When Jessica Fletcher comes into town, the klaxons must sound. You either get murdered by her, or framed by her.

                              Agreed. Loved the bit where

he cut the guys stomach, smashed out of the window and swung down through the window below whilst hanging onto the poor sods intestines!

                              That was sodding brilliant!

Just watched The Grudge 2. Goddamn awful on so many levels. All the scares were terrible and nothing scary about them, they could have at least taken the scares from the original at least those were entertaining. Bah.
