Tucker and Dale vs Evil on Lovefilm last night. I was at my uncle's place and they'll watch anything - often I'll see completely awful stuff but after rooting through what's on offer it was a choice between that and Transformers 3 on BR.

Two guys minding their own business fixing up their holiday home in the woods get mistaken for hillbilly murderers.

I thought it was bloody hilarious.

Hmm I've actually watched a fair few films over the last week:
      Alien
      Predator
      Total Recall
      Blade Runner
      Star Trek
      Eyes Wide Shut
      Hobo With a Shotgun

Titanic as well here, in 3D at the Imax. Bloody nice transfer to be honest, I was amazed, although of course it doesn't pick up reflections or fluids at all. I still reckon it's a so-so film, that part when the ship snaps in two is a bit Michael Bay.

I have been wanting to watch that for a while now. Unfortunately I watched the trailer which gave away nearly everything that happens so I recommend everyone avoiding the trailer!

It does give away quite a lot but not everything, the film still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Plus it's just a bloody awesome film.

              The shot of

Tucker running with the chainsaw getting attacked by the bees in slow motion had me on the floor. I actually had to pause it. We were watching via the laptop plugged into the telly and I was the nearest so I had to crawl there and press space

Kick-Ass (My fave comic book movie, not as good as Batman Begins/Dark Knight but probably more entertaining for repeat viewings)
Four Lions ("Rubber Dinghy Rapids Bro!" Haha!)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Again? Watch it once a year I think :S)

I dragged a mate along to see 21 jump street and he didnt regret it. Some crap parts but when it was funny it was laugh out loud craziness. We both came out of the cinema in agreement, if we had the budget and no how on making a comedy 13 years ago, this would have been it.

Another Earth. Redemption movie following a chick who accidentally kills a guys family in a car crash, befriends and becomes lover of said man to the backdrop of a planet coming into our orbit, that appears to be our earth, where the same events have occurred and the same people live. Think Melancholia on an indie budget, this film doesn't know how to resolve itself and viewer gratification is low, reasonable watch, no great shakes.

Watched Che Part One on Film 4 last night, depicting the fight in Cuba by the Marxist revolutionary and counercultural symbol Che Guevara starring Benicio Del Torro.

Pretty good movie, very understated and thankfully not very 'Hollywood'. Looking forward to Part Two later tonight.

Just watched Inglorious Basterds. That's a proper return to form for Tarantino who, IMHO, hasn't made anything decent since Jackie Brown. The chap playing the SS officer is just brilliant and there are some lovely long shots and unusual angles used.

                          Watched The Last Boy Scout.

Cracking film. Dare I say it's Bruce Willis's best performance.

                            How dare you!

Just received my copy of take shelter on bluray...for me one of the, if not THE, best films of 2011.

                            Absolutely brilliant.

Just seen Terminator Salvation again after first seeing it on the cinema. Im still left with the same Meh feeling after the 1st viewing. I suppose any movie based in the future as opposed to present day was going to struggle with tone and backdrop. I reckon it would have been better if it was John Conner who was out there alone instead of Kyle Reese and he befriends Marcus. OR swap John Conners role with Blair so he rescues and walks back to base with Marcus. There wasnt enough time for anyone to get to know or care about Marcus's character which is essential for a Terminator movie. In T2 and T3 you make friends with the Arnold T800's but in this one you're forced to watch a new terminator act a bit of an arse for the most part of the movie. This also effects the heart sacrifice in the end, just no real emotional weight to it.

                                Cabin in the Woods

It can't get past being a comedy enough let any horror in. It rolls out every cliche in the book with no suspense or twists playing its hands too early every step of the way. Theres some decent laughs in places but it wastes its concept and has no twists at all, feeling like it gives up at the end. Not the worst film but definitely overrated and one of the years disappointments
