Did the book rip off the film?

Have you actually seen the hunger games? It's nothing like Battle Royale.

Both are great films, both are about very different things and have totally different stories.

Only if the book was one sentence long
'teenagers forced to fight each other to the death'

I'd say it was closer to the Running Man than Battle Royal, but even then it's a tenuous link.

le Concert - I can honestly say it's the best movie I've seen in a long time. Brilliant from start to finish.

humans vs zombies...cheap slightly naff acting in places but suprisingly entertaining

                        Alien
Cracking film, far less horror and 'alien' than I remember their being but glad I watched it before Prometheus hits. Currently halfway through Aliens.

                        The Hunger Games
Ended up giving this a go. I can see what people mean now when they distance it from Battle Royale, there's a lot less emphasis in this on the central premise than BR had with a large amount of time spent on the characters outside the game. Once the shakey cam settled after the ropey opening it was a very well made film and I'd watch the coming sequel. My only issues were that it was far too long, the story being far too predictable to support the length and there's very little action to break up the slow pace, I wouldn't be in a rush to see it again but well worth watching if you haven't seen it already.

I went to see Wrath of the Wipes (I don't know why) and The Hunger Wipes.

Both were wipe, The Hunger Wipes not quite so much wipe as Wrath of the Wipes though. Woody Harrelson saved it.

Dave, when's the last time you actually enjoyed a modern blockbuster? Just out of interest, cus you seem to hate them all.

Probably Avatar, or The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, if you count that.

                                Inception was alright too.
