One Eye can see into the future. He foresees things before they happen, and that's what makes him a formidable warrior. But these visions also control him, telling him what to do - like finding the arrow head in the stream.

I'm probably reading way too much in it. Yes, I did enjoy it and would give it a strong 4/5

Which probably makes more sense, because I honestly thought the guy was a viking lost in Scotland until I read the wiki as well. Thinking it was Scotland may not sound like it makes much sense, but they had Scottish accents, and it looked like it was shot in Scotland.
Why wouldn't it make sense? Vikings lived in Scotland too you know! Us Orcadians are greatly proud of the fact

Although I don't think the geography really matters for that movie. It reminded me of that Johnny Depp/Jim Jarmusch movie where he played William Blake (not THE William Blake).. was it Dead Man? It had the same weird trippy feel to it.

The market chase is the most blatant homage. There are lots of parallels and bits lifted throughout though

I actually just ordered a spare copy from play since the only version we're getting over here in Belgium is the one where they created a single 2 hour or so movie from both parts.

If you don't mind another 4 hour epic, I would without a doubt recommend Love Exposure.
Nothing like Red Cliff mind, but it's one of my favourite movies I've seen this year. Only out on DVD and from the publishers comments it seems a bluray version won't be coming out as they would never make their money back.
          A real shame.
Jus saw your reply now lol........ Thanks for the recommendation, will definately check it out if I can find it cheap online........

Watched a few more movies over the last few days.........

Death Note 1 & 2 (but not 3, the L spin off chapetrs)

Ive seen teh anime, and prefer it to this live action one, but was nice to revisit the story from a different perspective. They merged the CG well with the live action, and got most of the message across from teh anime, but cartain parts were glossed over and not particularly obvious. Still worth a watch, but you MUST watch the anime version! Heard Hollywood are remaking this like evrything else, which I am not sure how to take, as its fine the way it is......... 7/10

Im on a bit of a Kate Beckinsale high at the monet, as she is one of our hottest exports to Hollywood....... a natural beauty So I have tried to find some of her back catalogue of movies that are in the bargain bins lol.......

Snow Angels - Not a very good movie, and kind of depressing, was nice to see Sam Rockwell in it, as I only started reconising him after watching him in the Moon. Beckinsale is her fine self again, but the movie was slow and didnt go anywhere interesting. Its one of those that shows you a series of people and how they go about their business in the same town. Not one id watch again. I was drifting into sleep in parts 4/10

Fragments - This had an interesting premise, and was another of Beckinsales so so roles, she aint the lead, but there is a number of recognisable names like Forrest Whittaker and Dakotta Fanning. Its kind of another Morbid movie about how a single freak event affects a number of people in different way, and explores how they each deal with it in the own personal way. Not a huge fan of these life lesson movies, as they tend to be more tears and angst like drama than plot progression and story line......... I kinda got bored though, half way through it. 4/10

          Everybodys Fine

Now this was a suprise for me as it satrs Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, the lovely Kate Beckinsale (surprise surprise) and Sam Rockwell (he must have a thing with the beckinsale to be in anotehr movie with her, the jammy bast!) Anyways, I enjoyed the movie as it focusses on Robert De Niros Journey through life in his twighlight years. Bit emotional in parts, as you would expect, but its done in the usual hollywood style. I enjoyed the warm message it sets and was a pleasant movie to watch. De Niro is quite funny in it too, in his own grumpy way. 6/10

          Twighlight Eclipse

Wasn't going to watch this, but kinda glad i did now as it it much better than the previous two movies.........

still say she should have chosen the wolf!

Kinda funny in parts, and it tried to explain some of the roles of the other cast members. Action sequences were kinda lame, as its mainly focussed on the love triangle in the movie. For what its worth, I enjoyed this movie, but the overall premise is kind of pathetic,

as its all about a teenage girl and how the world revolves around her.......... selfish on her part and stupidly reckless on everyone elses.......... Maybe future movies will explain why she is so bloody special (don't read the books yah see).

I was entertained mostly so 7/10.

Been getting into my movies and games of late............. a good thing!

Watched A Single Man with Colin Firth (who is excellent) playing a gay man struggling with the death of his partner in a car crash. Beautifully shot by director Tom Ford (Gucci designer) and a bittersweet tale. Well worth a watch.

The Wicker Man remake. I really didn't think it could possibly be that bad, but it was.

So he sees a dead body floating in the water, but bang! he wakes up from the bad dream, only to find he is holding a dead body in his arms and bang! he wakes up AGAIN?!? How cheap can you get?

And look out here's the big chin twins, and a lady with a beard of bees - oh yes, scary stuff alright.

At the end of the original I remember getting a very powerful feeling of helplessness.. here it was just like "OH NOES NOT THE BEES! NOT THE BEES!"

The Matrix takes most of it's reality concepts from an anime called Megazone 23 which was done in several movie length parts during the 80's. If you haven't seen it you will be amazed at how similar the two are.

Watched Centurion which actually wasnt half as bad as the trailers made out. I liked what I saw of the brilliant names Fassbender(reminds me when Namco were going to the name Steve Fox, the boxer from Tekken, Dean Earwhicker). from Inglorious Basterds so glad to see his own vehicle and Dominic West is in decent form as well. the gore isnt too over the top and its historical nonsense of course but it moves at a decent pace yet is quite acton packed.

I think Im a bit of a Neil Marshall fan, havent seent Doomsday but I do like Dog Soldiers anf the Descent movies. I always watch his movies and half way through think they're really stretching what little budge they have. Could be completely wrong of course, just my opinion.

I've had the week off so have been watching some old films at lunch every day.

Started off with some Stallone movies:

Cliffhanger: I've always thought highly of this movie, its just an excellent action flick I can watch again every now and then.

Tango and Cash: True cheese fest, not a great film but mildly entertaining.

F.I.S.T: I enjoyed this one alot, also I really love the Bill Conti score.

Universal Soldier: Love this movie, Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren at thier best.

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves: Still a great movie, kind of fun seeing Morgan Freeman in a more action based role.

I went and watched L'Illusionniste last night.

Awww man it was amazing, I was just grinning at how beautiful it was throughout. Really really recommended if you like your animation.

It's the director of Bellevue Rendezvous who did this. the guy is clearly super talented, he directed and did the main character designs and composed the music.
This really shows that it's not just Ghibli who can make beautiful magical features full of character.

Most of the film was set in late 50's / early 60's Edinburgh, it was really great to see an animated film that was set in Britain.

I watched 'The bird with the crystal plumage' today, an Argento murder thriller thing. Was alright.

I happened to Watch Doomsday a couple of weeks ago.

                          Awful film.

So bad that I was going to turn it off, but for some bizzare reason of masochism, watched it to the end.

The whole premise of the film is quite proposterous, that is the only possible reason to watch the film.

Doomsday was awful. I happen to think Centurion was crap as well. Descent on the other hand is a modern horror masterpiece

Watched Goldeneye for the millionth time last night on ITV2. It is still ace, although I was quite drunk by the end of it.

Why, did you play a drinking game where everytime you saw a CRT screen you took a drink?
