Watch some movies on tv last night, You got Mail and The Core.
You got Mail I had seen before but it was still a nice film to watch, bit long though. Perfect for valentines evening. The Core was EPIC! I started it and knew it would be awful and it didn't fail to deliver. That said, I still really enjoyed it and we were just predicting who was going to die next.

I saw the start of You've Got Mail the other day and it was funny to see how far we've come with computers. Seeing Meg Ryan boot up her PC and connect to her AOL account using dial up made me realise how even though we used dial up as recently as 5 years ago, I've not thought about it since!

I also get a bit confused between this and Sleepless in Seattle as it's got the same main actors and the New York backdrop.

Our Valentines viewing was Friends With Benefits, which we both really enjoyed!

I don't think Justin Trousersnake is as fit as the women say he is, he's a weedy kid with curly hair who has the time and money to go the gym and get his hair shaved short. In contrast, Mila Kunis is gorgeous, just lovely. Emma Stone was in this too and I normally think she's gorgeous too, but for some reason, her teeth seemed to big for her mouth in this like she'd had dental implants or something.

Anyway, the film itself is exactly what you'd expect, but there's some funny lines in it and both leads aren't afraid of poking fun at themselves.

It took a short while to stop thinking JT was playing Shawn Fanning again!

Well that was $8/?4 well spent. I had the whole auditorium to myself as well, I like it when that happens.

Did Drive have subtitles? How does it work over there?

How many dataDaves did it score?

I was once in a cinema to myself and a couple of guys walked in and sat down in the empty room. I turned around and said "somebody's sat there, mate".

8 dDs out of 10. No subs this time. I hate subs.

The other time I had a whole cinema to myself I cranked up a huge spliff. Matrix 3. **** film, optimal viewing ambience.

No, Batman is black, he's dark....not the same kind of colours as the trousers that older blokes in offices wear. Bland gamma.

Man On A Ledge - very good it was. Wasn't going to bother, but really glad I did now Brain off kind of stuff.

Demons 2, was a bit nonsensical and boring compared to the first movie, bit of a let down really, few ok scenes but didn't hold my attention for long. A few good babes of course though.

Finally got around to watching Avatar. Probably the most stunning visual quality in a film that I've seen. I was watching a HD broadcast so not BR quality but I was awed by how good it looked on my TV. Story and acting wise, it's decent, nothing spectacular. As I expect from modern Cameron, there was a whiff of cheese re: the romance. Apart from that, I was reminded of the space marines in Alien quite a lot. Not a lot of originality but made up for it by the execution and feast for the eyes and ears. Certainly, it has set up a universe ripe for exploitation/exploration/spinoffs for further films. I am interested in the direction numbers 2 and 3 go.

                      Immortals

Had great promise, but despite looking incredible in parts, it kinda blows. Just too much crazyness and not enough plot/character development. The most backstory we get is erm......actually i dont know.

And the whole "the gods wont get involved, or will they?" bit had me laughing and then crying in frustration.

Mickey rourke is by far the best part of this movie.

                      4/10

                      Blue Valentine

Loved it. Ryan gosling in yet another cracker. A film about a relationship going nowhere, and it feels bang on the money throughout. GREAT performances all round.

                      8/10

                      Paranormal Activity 3

A load of bollocks really, but good popcorn entertainment with some genuinely creepy moments.

5 or 6/10 depending on your genre taste.

Saw Justice League: Doom last night. Quite a good yarn for any fans of the original adventures of Superman, Batman or Justice League/JLA Unlimited. The animation shines in places with a little CGI assistance, theres a splash of blood and someone even says crap, Unfortunatly Superman is drawn a little more in Anime girlyboy fashion but he doesnt feature massively more than anyone else for it to detract. Like most of the DC animated universe stuff this ends up leaning towards Batman more than anyone else but thats fine with me. Kevin Conray is up to his normal standard, they've tried doing otehr voice actors in the past but nothing fits like this guy. Funny thing is he looks nothing like this voice suggests, in fact he looks like a boild Ron Pearlman LOL

Recommend if you like the DC animated universe which pi$$es over the Marvel one IMHO. They always edge them via voice acting and screenplay, even if the Marvel characters are usually cooler . . . . Marvel have yet to do them justice.

                          Did Doctor Doom win?

Has anybody seen Chronicle on here? It's No. 5 in the chart and has people with superpowers doing some superpowered stuff. Thought it'd be right up people's street on here and wondered if it was any good.

i saw it at the cinema a couple of weeks ago (Chronicle)

I liked it but the missus didn't

Story was pretty good and by the end i could see why someone could go 'bad' if they had those type of powers avaialble to them
so i guess i sympathised which is good story telling

not really spoiling anything because its all in the trailer

Watched Porco Rosso last night and it was pretty good, not as good as my favourites like Laputa but definately worth a watch

Having a LOTR extended edition day, first time I've watched them in many years. Only got through disc 1, so halfway through the first film. Pizza time before settling down for another 10 and a half plus hours....

I decided to have an LOTR marathon yesterday as I was off sick. Hilariously, I managed up to the bit where the black riders stab the beds at the inn before I got sleepy and gave up

Maybe this weekend, though. The BR picture is lovely.
