I agree, it's a load of bollocks. Personally I voted with my feet/wallet and cancelled my pre-order for the 3-disc version of Wall-e when I found out there was a 2-discer without the DRM'd, region locked digital copy nonsense (not sure if Disney used the region locking though).

When I got JUNO I tried using the digital copy on that for laughs, and indeed the quality was quite hilarious. I tried looking at it again recently, but my voucher code is tied to my old PC, which has been split into bits and sold on eBay. So no more digital copy for me.

Watched The Dark Knight last night and thought it was tremendous. The regualr letterbox picture looked ace to me, but the IMAX scenes do look a different league entirely.

Actually enjoyed the film more than I did at the cinema. When watching it for the first time I think I found myself watching out for the next stand-out Joker scene/set-piece, whereas this time I found myself taking the whole thing in and getting more out of it.

Just create a US account mate, thats all I did. If you sign out of itunes, then try and redeem the code it will ask you if you want to sign in or create an itunes account. Create a new account and just dig a valid US address from google. I just went on the US burger king site and looked up one of their shops for mine.

The good thing is because its devices that are authorised to play content and not the accounts themselves once you have redeemed it you can just sign back into your UK account.

I have got Rambo, and speed racer digital copies this way.

Ok thanks for the tip Ne0, I'll give that a try.

Back to Batman then, one of the more interesting focus points was the one about the music I thought. I already found the music in the film brilliantly done and after watching the focus point I can appreciate it even more. Defining the joker with 1 note on a cello was genius. I love how the music is there in the background almost the entire film, building and building when the action heats up.

The bits about the IMAX filming were also quite interesting, it's a shame it's so expensive as I would've loved them to have done the entire film in IMAX. In fact, I wish more filmmakers would use the technique, it somehow makes the picture a lot more...powerful.

I think this might be one of the subconscious reasons why I disliked The Dark Knight so much, the music constantly being there effectively canceled itself out for me (the same way your brain cancels out ambient noise). For me it created an incredibly numb, strained experience.

I too found those feature points brilliant, but no Interviews on set whilst in costume which is a shame. I would have loved to see a feature with Heath Ledger in his guise as the Joker.

It was funny when they smashed that IMAX camera, how many were there in the the world 3 or 4? One less now.

Well I got the first four Criterion films today, but they're not actually numbered. I thought these would be limited edition like the DVD versions

It's not a massive deal, but I was hoping to amass a definitive collection and thought the numbers would give everything a little more gravity.

                Hey ho.

If you want criterion releases the Laserdiscs are only ones worth collecting.

I don't like flipping films mate I also can't afford or justify to my wife how much that collection would cost.

This way I at least stand a chance of buying everything that comes out...

The Criterion DVD numbers are just a catalogue number, no? AFAIK their discs are only limited by the license length and they keep printing them until it expires.

Watched The Mist last night. It looked brilliant in black & white, really worked. I only wish this was the version I'd seen first at the pics as the film didn't quite stand up to a repeat viewing. Once familiar with how it plays out there's very little suspense, and without that it just felt like going through he motions. Did look amazing in b&w though.

My copy of TDK has turned up from Movietyme 16 days after it was sent. Hurrah for it finally arriving!

Could anyone confirm whether the UK version of BBC Planet Earth on Blu-Ray is region free? I have a US PS3 and would like to get it. I have seen a couple of places say the US one works on a UK PS3, but you know how things can change sometimes.

A real confirmation would be good that the UK one works on a US machine, thanks!

Anybody got any dates for Akira release? I heard Feb mentioned but wasn't sure if that was UK too or if its region free etc...

just had Death Race, Burn After Reading and Eagle Eye turn up, the exchange rate's getting really bad at the moment though so I may have to lay off all these ridiculous purchases
