Hasnt Whedon stated that he's trying to go the route of the comic and focusing on Captain America the most?.... Which, not to blow my own trumpet, but was what I said I thought he would do since this thread started anyway. It always seemed like he had too much respect for the source material to not use it properly.

They are just using Iron Man to sell the film, which probably makes sense, although I'm pretty sure that a huge number of people loved Captain America and Thor as well.

There looked to be more action in this trailer than in the whole of the Iron Man 2 movie. Damn that was a disappointing watch.
Super excited for this as I got Thor for Xmas and liked what they did with the character even if the film was a little slow, so I treated it as a lead up to the Avengers.

I'm not impressed with Caps uniform. Was expecting him to look better than that, his suit looks bland to me. As for the hulk, he looks underwhelming when you get a brief glimpse of him. I thought he would be bigger, more imposing.

Still watching it day 1 tho'!

I really liked the new trailer but the Captain bothers me a little as I always visualised him as older with more authority. Mask looks a little clumsy, too. For the brief time we see him Hulk looks to be a little more 'classic' but not that much different to the Norton film (grief, finally watched that the other weekend - what a crock).

Don't know if I'd have gone with Loki as the villain. Something like the Skrulls or Ultron or Kang would have been good and a chance to sneak in some cameos/setups for other characters but I'm still looking forward to this more than Spidey.

It's largely that the Marvel films have been solid across the board and what Whedon did with Serenity that I'm still looking forward to this. Though better I'd be lying if I said the new trailer rocks my boat with the film still looking too much like a live action adaptation of a Saturday morning kids cartoon. It's too bright and like people have said, Cap's new costumes pretty crap. They still seem to have over peroxided Thors hair at times too. Still, the final film will likely not be a bad one as they're small annoyances in the end.

                      Trailer looks ace.

I agree with Wil though, something looks a bit off with the Captain America costume.

Is that a real toy? It looks tacky as hell and the box looks about 30 years old. Surely it's not real!

Chris Wells, a supervisor working at visual effects house Hydraulx, tells Starburst Magazine that he thinks Marvel’s “The Avengers” is the best of the comic book films he’s worked on to date – and he’s worked on practically all the Marvel ones. Wells has seen a rough cut of the film and his company is […]

One of the FX artists has this to say:

"I went to a screening with all the temporary visual effects and it was pretty fleshed out. It's a long movie but it doesn't feel like it. Out of all the comic book movies and franchises I've worked on, this is the best one I've seen so far."

"This thing has gone so big that Marvel are dwarfing their other franchises. For people who enjoy the comics and haven't really liked the way some of the characters were treated in other movies, I think they're going to be a little more appeased by this one. Especially the Hulk. They let the Hulk be Hulk and that's great. He acts more like the comic book Hulk"

"I think he [Joss Whedon, director] did a very good job of setting up the characters based on what we know from the Marvel franchise, integrating them together with all their differences and similarities and then getting on with business. And just when you think the movie is a character piece it just goes nuts."

A new image of Thor and Coulson together. Thors outfit is looking cheap like the Cap's too. Guess we can be sure where they decided to save on costs.

A BIG day on “The Avengers” front for Marvel Studios with the release of a new one-sheet, a title change in at least one country, and the imminent premiere of a new trailer. First up Empire reports that the movie has just received a title change in the UK to the slightly more complicated “Avengers […]

I don't know whether it really is to avoid any similarities with the old TV series but apparently the UK release of the film has changed its name to the god awful 'Avengers Assemble' which shows how stupid they think the audience is. No doubt they asked people 'What is The Avengers?' and recieved a load of pervy Emma Peel responses and presumed there was confusion rather than actually consider maybe they haven't done anything worthwhile to promote the film over here.

Interestingly, our release date is sooner.
