[QUOTE=QualityChimp;1952584]I tried to watch Thor the other night.

Problem A: The sound levels seemed really off for me.
[SIZE=1]"Hi, I'm Thor! Let's fight the Ice Giants! Plot plot plot"
BOOM! LIGHTNING AND THUNDER WHILST FIGHTING!
"I should be the king of Viking town! Wah!"

[SIZE=2]Trying to watch a film where you're constantly changing the volume so you can hear what's being said but not wake a sleeping baby with the sound of raging gods is frustrating.

Yeah I find the same thing too.

To be fair it's probably your setup. See if you have a dialogue enhancer option.

        Comment

Yeah if you have the option, bring up the levels on your center speaker and turn down the rest.

By the way i am finally seeing Avengers tomorrow, its been a week of hell trying to avoid any spoilers.

Just thought i'd pipe in with my piece. Now i'm not a comic book fan and have never bought a comic in my life. I am however a fan of massive things blowing up and lots of destruction. That said I thought Transformers 3 done the whole massive destruction thing better. Yeh the acting was dire but I knew it would be like that when I paid my money. That doesnt bother me. With Avengers I just expected better. I was a fan of Ironman and the last Hulk movie. Thor was worth a watch but Captain America was dire. The Avengers for me slotted somewhere in the middle. Decent enough just not the epic everyone is hyping it to be. I also wasnt exactly enamored by The Dark Knight either much preffered Batman and Batman Returns. Thats just my 2 cents worth on comic book movies. I'd rather spend two hours watching something like The Killer, Shooter, Drunken Master II or Ace Ventura.

You know what, I think my favourite superhero movie is probably "Unbreakable".

              Comment

I didn't like Unbreakable... Did anything actually happen in that film? The whole idea of it was that it was going to be a trilogy of films originally, and once all three films were together they would make one film. You could tell, becuase there was nothing to the film. Course it is by a hack director who's only ever made one good film, so thinking about it now it probabaly turned out as well as it ever could have.

It was also unintentionally funny in places. Unless it was suppose to be a comedy, in which case I apologise to the director.

You know what, it's a family film based on a bunch of spangly Lycra clad superheroes.

They have powers. They fight evil. They win.

I knew nobody was gonna get hurt, I knew they'd beat the bad guy. But I enjoyed it from start to finish. That's all that needs to be said.

It's not Schindlers List, it's not battleship Potemkin and it probably won't be remembered once another 2 superhero film s are released.

On the positive side, it wasn't HULK.

Even the most die hard, miserable Avengers fan couldn't of failed to be thoroughly entertained by this all the way through. A great film in its own right. As for the hulk, just brilliant

just got back from watching this, brilliant, loved the little comedy elements and I must have been the only person in the cinema who got the retro game reference

I just got back too. That was excellent, wasn't it? Really delivered and finally a Marvel film that felt bloody huge at the end. Really great.

Nameco Bandai were credited at the end. Nameco? Was that a typo or is there some owner of an owner thing going on there?

I've just got back too and chalk me up as another fan.

I'm the same as most of the posts on here as I loved the epic ending, the teamwork and the Incredible Hulk!

Yep, the Hulk really stole the movie for me, both in and out of green. He was excellent and I felt Ruffalo played him really well. The rest were pretty great too though. I was still somewhat bothered by the two non-powered humans acting all super but they kind of got away with it and I thought they did a pretty good job making the Hawkeye guy relevant to the story. The main Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk combo worked brilliantly.

I was also a bit suprised to see (sort of very minor early on spoilers)

Paltrow and Skaasgard in there too. I kind of figured there wouldn't be room for secondary characters from the other movies in this so it was a nice treat to have them here.

It really helped build from those other movies and tie them together.

And, yeah, the last sequence was fantastic. I've felt these Marvel movies all felt small (even though I enjoyed them) and, if this had followed the same pattern, it would have ended on that plane thing. But no. This just got bigger and bigger and kicked all sorts of ass.
