Oh dear, looks like a bad photoshop effort. Also not encouraged by the fact Ironman is in the front and Captain America waaay back there. Having said that I do like the look of Hulk in this one, lets hope he's the "ultimate" incarnation with insane strength and mind. I want to see him eating someones heads in this movie gadammit! (highly unlikely I know)

Edit - Cap's mask still looks stinky poo, though.Last edited by Wil; 29-02-2012, 16:13.

Still not convinced by the trailer, the best bits look to have the Hulk in them, or maybe thats just because Im a fan of his. Also it reminds me of the last 2 transformer movies where all the teasers and trailers hinted at mad action but the best bits were probably in the trailer. I wonder if theres anything really left to enjoy now?
Hope so, for the fanboys sake. . . .

As for this film, it looks amazing, you must be dead inside.

Comic book fans should be more demanding of their character interpretations and adventures and not just happy because they get the suit or flipping casting right. So far, Jeremy Renner looks the best thing in this, human wise. I'm afraid I've been stung too many times by Marvel Studios to spend my hard earned cash on the star of the Hurt Locker. RDJ was good in IM1, annoying in IM2, I really havent got time for him, esp in the starring role in this Avengers movie.
I strongly disagree that these are really good representations of comic books on film, and no way are they good films in their own right. Most average fanboys, by definition, will generally lap up anything, not because their characters are accurately portrayed but because it has Marvel or DC in the opening credits.
There have been plently of excellent comic book films, films that get the proper treatment they deserve. You've got the obvious Nolan/Batman trilogy but going waaaaay back to the 70's you have Mario Puzo of Godfather fame doing the screenplay for the first 2 brilliant Superman movies.

Ironman 1 was good (not great) but I felt short changed with Incredible Hulk, Ironman 2, Thor and Captain A. Marvel and Disney are making billions off the box office and DVD/Blu ray sales its not being reflected back onto the budgets or scale of each subsequent movie. (Thor was meant to have a ?250M budget but this was scaled waaaaaay back to save costs. Marvel famously tried to fleece Sam Jackson and Mickey Rourke plus they didnt rehire Terence Howard because of his fee and replaced him with cheap Cheedle). Even if Avengers is balls to the wall action its not fair that each individual character should get their own "shortened" story movie and then build up to one big ass film. I mean, thats ok if you're buying a ?1.99 comic at a time (most hardcore comic book fans complain even if they read just 1 pants issue out of a decent 6 parter) but not for a cinema ticket or dvd.

You can call me a moron all you like, Doesnt alter the fact that many people including myself have really enjoyed what marvel have done with their film franchises recently. Captain America was one of my favorite films last year for instance, it was suprisingly well made, perfectly cast, and just a heck of alot of fun. Ive seen it a few times now, its a really great film, in many different ways.
If you dont think the recent Marvel films are good films then as you say its your opinion, its wrong, but yeah, its your opinion. So we'll just leave it at that.Last edited by rmoxon; 29-02-2012, 23:36.

Just seen the new trailer and... well, it's the first time the film has looked to click for me. Yes its action heavy but then it's ultimately about marketing the film to the wider audience so it's going to be. Serenity showed Whedon can balance out action and characters at the same time so I'm now worried about that angle. What was nice was seeing a more final version of the film which Captain America aside didn't look as cheap as previous photo's and trailers suggested. I agree that previous Marvel films have looked a bit budget at times but that could change in time as Avengers is the first Disney led Marvel film proper and whatever film gets made will be the first one with their involvement from the start so things could improve from that angle.
