Having finally read the manga, I can see what you guys were going on about regarding the Rosario anime. I almost wish I'd read it earlier to save me the time I spent watching the anime.

So since Clannad's finished pretty much so I thought now is as good a time as any to watch the movie. Hmmmmm. It's a lot rougher than the anime is about the best I can say for it.

The connection that develops between Nagisa and Tomoya sems a bit random and thrown together - they seems to jump from being strangers to being friends to being close friends rather quickly and oddly with no real reasoning behind it.

Overall it just feels like a streamlined version of the series but with none of the polish to the characters that really makes them stand out. It's a bit like the difference between the Air series and the Air movie; Same general outline but with a slightly different take on it but overall not to the same standard as the series.

Edit: I've just noticed I seem to be stalking this thread again. I really need to stop. >_>

Heh. I was going to watch it but I had been told it had some spoilers for the After Story so I thought it'd be best to wait it out a bit and see if any announcement regarding another season is forthcoming.

zSZS ep5-7. top stuff, escpecially as mentioned aready in ep6 swapping VA's around, and ep7's animation changes(including nods to Darker than black, Gundam, Captain Tsubasa and PES) and the brilliant SZS drawing song .

Can't remember if it was ep5 or 6 that had the fangirl kicking the football back to what i think is the 2 guys from Whistle!(Blondie certainly looks like Shige and the other is ?)

Twas ep 5. It was also good to hear one of the more "quieter" characters speak in ep6. Never thought it would happen.

            Shana 23: Finally an explanation!

Bit lol how they did the classic evil-scientist-reveals-plan-to-enemy but all in all it was interesting stuff. I still can't see how they'll wrap it all up in one episode but I'm expecting Yoshida death/disappearance.

shana 23: aaarg looks like were gonna get an anime only ending [warning spoilers from the novels:]:

seeing as theres been no mention of the second presence in the Reiji Maigo, and they appeared to have warped what Ball Masque are trying to create from it, it doesnt look like were gonna be getting an ending that follows the novels

as the novels go: the second presence in the RM is the Snake of the Festival, one of the true gods/leaders of the tomogara(sp?) and true leader/founder of Ball Masque, not this stupid statue of pride thing theyve got in the anime

Ball Masque on Christmas eve attempt to revive their true leader (similar way to this statue thing), stuff happens and yuji ends up joining/fusing with it, creating new evil baddass yuji, new leader of ball masque, and then novels enter into their final stages that should have been the 3rd series

i have a very bad feeling were going to get a Yuji&shana and co defeat this statue of pride thing and everyone lives happily ever after, in much the same vain as the season 1 finale

Heh, it's just as well you didn't since they've just announced they are doing a second series for the After Story stuff. Also, new mech series by Bones. promo pic has a bit of a Eureka SeveN vibe too.

Edit: Spice and Wolf Finale - What can I say. Fantastic series. Great characters, great music, interesting story. If they don't get a second series, it'll be a tragedy.

Edit 2: News story about next Clannad season.

hmm seems like the rumours i was hearing a while back turned out to be correct, but its gonna be what a year at the earliest before we'll be seeing it, what with all the other stuff kyoani has planned

Anyways Spice n Wolf: good series, good characters, great stories and some nice lil touchs with all the merchant talk n stuff. Seeing as theres still all the travel back to Horo's home up North stuff still to go and the fact they kept mentioning it i would say its pretty likely we'll get a sequel of some form be it ova or another series

Also just finished watched the Karas OVA, nice blend of regular animation and CGI, it looked brilliant, and the samurai dog fight scenes were brilliant, that awesome mix of aerial fighter-esk combat and mid air samurai fights was brilliant, the story wasnt half bad either considering it was really action oriented and more of a demonstration and experimentation of new animation tech (like some of Production IG's ova's), recommend everyone go take a look if just for the brilliant first battle in the first section of ep 1

Yeah, read the news about that stuff earlier today. Very pleased with the Clannad announcement so I can hold off watching the movie for a good while yet now that I know it's coming.

The new BONES series I'll be checking out for sure. I very rarely miss one of their shows and I do hope it's another 50 episode or so epic like Eureka 7. IMO we could do with a few more of them. Especially a continuous one that isn't broken up like Geass or Gundam.

Due to circumstances, I've been watching the Tsubasa Chronicles OVA without having checked most of the second season and I'm loving it. It looks so pretty, the animation was lovely and the characters didn't look as freakishly long or maybe my memory is failing me and they didn't change the designs too much from the series and the music is as good as I remembered it being. Lots of familiar tunes from the first season. I was sort of confused at the beginning but I think I've pieced things together sufficiently now. Can someone just tell me what exactly happened in the second season of the show? I think I left it at the

race that they were having. Or was that the first season? I remember it being something like episode 5 or 6 anyway. What happened in the rest of it?

There certainly seemed to be a lot more happening in the OVAs so far and what was happening was great too. Interesting revelations (arf!). If the series before this had been this nice to look at and this interesting, I might have stuck with it more. Not that I won't be going back to it sooner or later. Summertime hopefully...

Glad I waited on the spice and wolf stuff now. I've been watching them in 4 or 5 episodes chunks and now I've got the last 4-5 episodes to watch. Still my favourite winter series at the point I last watched it at which was episode 8... I think.

Tsubasa yaaaay. The stuff you were watching was fairly standard stuff. I'll try to recap what roughly happened in the second series as succintly as I can:

The race is won in the end by Sakura who gets her feather as a reward and it turns out the doctor from the first series was sent there by the mysterious man who's watching them all to try and get the feather.

After that, they basically continue their journey as per spec with Evil Man? and Yuuko doing various things to hinder/help them respectively until they get to a country where the feather is in a book that records the person who touches it's past for the next person to read. At this point, as Syaoran is fighting the beast that protects the book, he gets a bit injured then suddenly he goes blank clutching his eye and we get a shot of another Syaoran floating in water wearing clothes bearing Evil Man?'s symbol and basically crushes the monster and kills it without any mercy. Just as Kurogane's about to ask what's the matter, he returns to how he has been during the series.

After they leave this country, they end up in the Tokyo of the ovas. Oh and we discover Fai's not entirely magicless without the tatoos he gave away to Yuuko.

There's various other stuff but none of it is really vital to the main plot. After this, the manga basically continues the high level of plot progression which is a bit a change from how the series started in the first place.

Spice and Wolf - watched ep11-13 together and damn what a good show, the ending was brilliant, loved the little bit with the church bell. Lets hope there will more.

Shana ep23 - i hope we don't get a made up happy ending here, they could easily go the novels route and have a good cliffhanger for season3.

Ghost Hound ep15 - the story heating up again now, and damn that bit with the tape recording made my skin crawl a bit, a nice "oh ****" moment! And as always the 5.1 sound and its direction through out the episode is fantastic.

Cheers for that. It seemed to be mostly what I figured too. Now that I've finished the OVA up I'm not sure whether to plunge into the manga or wait for some more lovely OVAs for the series

Hmmm. It's dependent on how desperate you are for more story I guess! Well, that and whether they'll get more OVAs for the rest of the manga (or even a series!).

The only problem with the manga that I've found is that sometimes it's a bit unclear either with the elaborate drawings or just through the difficult translations but I'd argue personally that getting more of the story made up for that to me. Also, on the plus side, there's not been any more filler type material since the Tokyo stuff.

On a side note, I seem to have a new habit; drama cd's. First Heroic Age, then Higurashi and now Aria. I can just about get the gist of what they're talking about but not the specifics. Still, it's one way to get another dose of characters from series. Yet another guilty pleasure for me. ;>_>

Hehe. Welcome to the club. I've been picking them up since I spotted a few Aria drama cds on tokyotosho. I've even been getting the radio CDs that some of these shows have on top of that, like the Utawarerumono radio cds which I saw around the same time as the Aria stuff.

Clannad finale finale (for now): Bit better than abrupt end last week. Major lolz to be had with Okazaki and Mei's bit in the middle. Despite it being the end of it, I still don't feel it's really "ended" as such but whether this is from me knowing roughly what ahppens next or that there's going to be a second season, I don't know.

The preview's a tiny tiny glimpse at the next series. Make from it what you will. I'm wishing I'd held out the 1 day after I'd watched the movie to hear about the next series so it could all be fresh and new to me. Greh. Still, hopefully it'll be better done than the movie.
