Kamen no maid guy ep 2- My pick for the fanservice show of the season. Without wanting to sound like a broken record it's proving less annoying than Kanokon and a bit more memorable than To Love Ru. Fills in the void left by They are My Noble Masters, quite nicely.

Been a bit busy with other stuff and with exams looming so hopefully I'll be able to catch up again soon.

Episode 3 of Soul Eater is out. Great and very funny as usual. I do love the opening song Resonance by T.M. Revolution.

Agreed Great song, especially like Shinigami's little dance with his massive hands. Death the Kid has instantly become my favourite character

Second ep of Chiko's out and I'm really liking where this is going. Nothing overly new but done in a really well polished way.

A fairly good season this is turning out to be. No shows that are quite to the "omg need the next one" like Gurren Lagann turned out to be last year but a nice mix of standard stuff with some gems.

Late edit: Finally finished Cowboy Bebop. Hrm. I liked it but I'm sort of in 2 minds about the ending right now.

Macross Frontier ep 3 - This is just great. I'm loving this show more and more. Even Sherly who was a little bit of a bitch in the first two episodes has shown a different side to her. I loved the little back and forth exchange in the emergency shelter, particularly when Ranka pulls out that food Top stuff.

Along with Geass R2 this is in the sort of must have next episode asap category. So in that regards I think it beats out last year's season but I think overall it's not as good because some of the other shows don't quite match up to last year's.

Now I just need to catch up on the other Macross shows...

Macross Plus OAVs, first and foremost. There's a nice OAV+movie box from Manga Ent, if I'm not mistaken.
The first series is good, although it might show its age; the movie is a good way to have a quick recap it you don't have the time to go through the whole series. Macross 2 and 3...I don't reccomend them, just like Macross 7. Mikimoto's Macross 7 Trash (manga), however, it's a good read: don't expect much action, but it expands the Macross world beyond what you've seen in any TV/OAV/movie.
Macross Zero has its nice moments, but sometimes it clashes with what the first series settled.

Personal opinion on Frontier: meh. I really like Macross Plus but all other series weren't that great to me, first episode of Frontier felt like the first episode of the original Macross (with better graphics, of course) and the second episode didn't rose the bar...in fact, it brought it down. Maybe I'm a bit sick of the whole "genius kid recruited by a private company with better equipment than the military" thing.

The movie and oav of Macross Plus are both totally different in terms of character. The OAV focuses on Isamu, whereas the Movie focuses on Guld on why he was like that. Two totally different perspectives.

Oh and Macross 7 is awesome. As for the comparison of the original Macross with Frontier, the only similarites is that they get attacked by an alien race, new young pilot. Other than that it was nothing like it.

I watched ep1 of Macross 7 but just couldn't get into it.

I meant themeattically. The alien race attacked in the original Macross is because they wanted to reclaim their lost technology, which was unvieled in a grand ceremony in episode 1. Which of course was the SDF Macross.

The new one is set in the future within space colonies like the ones in Macross 7. Im sure there will be an SDF appearing later on.

I only watched half of it when it was first aired on SCI-Fi many years ago. Never really bothered with it since as i later learned that Macross 2 as it was a quick cash in and not created by the original team.

As for Ranka in Frontier, shes either half Zentradi or full on. I can't tell yet, but that alien race seems to be interested in her in some way. Or maybe im looking into it too much.

Just had a quick check and she does say she's a quarter. Bit odd how Altoh says nothing about it though.

First (seemingly) acceptable subs of Library Wars are out by Euthanasia. First thoughts being that the plot seems a little...unbelievable although I'm not entirely sure why when it worked for Farenheight 451. Other than that it's pretty neat. The characters interactions are amusing and slightly remiscent of FMP and I think the quote I read about how it was what Special A wanted to do but failed seems amusingly accurate. Animation's nice too as expected.

Kamen no Maid Guy 3; Funniest of the fan service shows this season I'm finding and it's mostly down to Maid Guy's ridiculousness. His and the brother's reaction to the drink was great stuff. On a side note, it makes me laugh to think that the female maid is the same voice as Revy from Black Lagoon.

Kurenai 4: Impressive as always although a slight disappointment with

random stronger-than-bullets-bone-arm-hax that seems oddly out of place for a fairly realistic series.

Really didn't expect this series to be as good as it turned out to be.

Has anybody caught Evangelion movie 1.0 yet? Whilst it is just a retelling so far from what I can see, the visuals have been improved dramatically with some scenes being re-storyboarded entirely. A real treat for Evangelion fans out there!
